The Sherman Police Department works with the community to identify and solve problems. Its special response team is trained in crisis negotiation and hazardous warrant services. The department s bicycle patrol unit has more than 10 officers who are certified to ride bicycles while on patrol. The Sherman Police Department operates a canine unit that assists in the prevention and detection of criminal activities. Located in Sherman, Texas, the department also has a critical accident investigative team that investigates fatal accidents occurred within the city. The department additionally offers several opportunities to citizens who wish to volunteer their time and talents for community service. The Sherman Police Department works in partnership with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and targets senior citizens who are interested in volunteering.
