Lumpp Rent a Car

First, the place is located in a ramshackle cluttered house on a corner. The cars are dirty on the outside and most have dents. The inside of the business office is actually worse on the inside than outside: Office is cluttered and appears disorganized. Unable to see the tops of counters or desks, it's run down, etc. I should have walked away then. Well, first impressions are everything and I should have listened to my intuition: Lumpp rental is the worst! I would give them a "zero" if I could! Had to rent a car for Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, I was unable to return the car when I was finished with it as Lumpp is closed on Sundays. But wait, they were also closed on Monday for Labor Day. Due to their hours, we had to keep the car until Tuesday morning. It sat in our driveway Saturday night through Tuesday 9:30 AM.

We didn't rent the car until 4:00pm Thursday, drove it Friday and Saturday, then left it sit in our driveway on Sunday and Monday, then returned it on Tuesday morning by 10:00. They charged us for 6days. Wait, isn't a day 24 hours?? So Thursday 4:00 PM-Friday 4:00 PM is one day, right?? Nope. Apparently we've been lied to all these years and 24 hours does not equal one day. I was expecting charges for 4 1/2-5 days. They obviously charge by calendar days and not hours. They also do not explain that. They never mentioned that. Lesson learned.

If I had been smarter, I would have dropped the car off Saturday night, taken video and still photos of the car, and dropped the keys in the "drop off" box. (They no longer accept after hours drop offs due to people turning in damaged cars.) I'm supposed to receive a whopping $53 refund from my deposit of over $300 for a car we drove two days and could not return because of them, not us.

Businesses like this do what they do because people are stuck and have no other options in an emergency. That's just sad.
