The UW Medical Center, located in Seattle, specializes in cardiac and cardiothoracic care. It has a staff of professional physicians, surgeons and nurses. The UW Medical Center also has various departments, such as family medicine, genetics, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, arthritis care, cancer, cosmetic and plastic surgery, and ear, nose and throat care. It also operates the Regional Heart Center, a cardiovascular clinic that provides heart diagnosis and surgical procedures. The center has 30,000 square feet of area that comprises catheterization labs and an electrophysiology and vascular angiography lab. Additionally, it has patient recovery rooms and a radiology department that offers various diagnostic imaging services, such as CT scans, ultrasounds, mammography, nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography. It also has special departments for patients suffering from tuberculosis and HIV and AIDS.
