Seeing a trail of ants parade across your counter or walking through a spider web in your bathroom can ruin a perfectly good day. Don’t let pests be a permanent fixture in your home — show them who’s boss with our pest control service.
Spiders
There are 24 confirmed types of spiders that reside in the Pacific Northwest. We will discuss the most common nuisance spiders that tend to build their webs in human environments and how to get rid of the most common spiders in PNW.
Termites
Causing more than $5 billion in damage to homes across the United States each year, termites are most common in the southern part of the nation. Since most homeowners’ insurance won't cover termite damage, professional help and prevention methods are often recommended.
Bed Bugs
One of the most feared pest infestations, bed bugs are small, flat insects that tend to congregate in mattress folds, furniture, carpet, or wall folds.Â

Silverfish
Due to their high reproduction rate and elusive nature, silverfish are some of the most difficult pests to eliminate once they have invaded your home. For this reason, preventative pest control is extremely important. With their appearance matching their name, silverfish probably aren’t something you want to find lurking around your home!
Bees
While Eastside can take care of your stinging insect issues, we do not treat for honey bees. Instead, we contact a local beekeeper to remove the queen and as much of the colony as possible. We’re committed to not only keeping your family safe but also the environment.Â
Wasps
A nest usually consists only of a fertilized female and her 8-12 offspring, who abandon the nest not long after hatching. They may build their nests in the open, in a crack or crevice, or inside an attic or crawlspace. They are susceptible to most insecticides, either sprayed on the nest itself or on the cracks and crevices where the wasps come and go.
Ticks
Closely related to spiders, ticks also belong to the arachnid group. Relying on the blood of their hosts, ticks are likely to move from one mammal to another in order to survive. Due to their transient behavior, these pests are vectors of a number of diseases, including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease.
Crickets
More of a nuisance than a threat, house crickets are omnivorous scavengers that feed on almost anything in sight. Known to destroy both vegetable gardens and clothing, all while producing a repetitious chirping sound, crickets cause quite the disturbance! You can typically find more of these creatures in heavily wooded areas.
Earwigs
Appearing as more of a threat in comparison to other pests, earwigs are more of an eyesore than an actual threat. Though they don’t pose much harm to humans, they are still extremely unwelcomed by homeowners. And for good reason. These pests are most widely recognized for their menacing pincers and scorpion-like thorax.
Mosquitoes
Not only are mosquitoes known for disrupting outdoor activities, but they are also vectors for dangerous diseases. Drawn to standing water and capable of laying up to 3,000 eggs in a lifetime, it’s no wonder that mosquitoes are one of the top nuisance pests in the U.S.!

Scorpions
Contrary to popular belief, spiders are not insects; they are actually arachnids, closely related to ticks and scorpions. Possessing the signature trait of eight legs and known to leave behind webs, spiders are notorious for spooking many homeowners.
Hornets
Similar to yellowjackets in shape, but larger and with black/white colors rather than black/yellow, baldfaced hornets are another dangerous social wasp. Although nests can be large, the colonies are themselves small, usually having several hundred workers. Baldfaced hornet nests are nearly always found hanging on eaves, trees or other exterior locations and are only very rarely found in enclosed spaces. The same care and caution used in dealing with yellowjackets should be used when dealing with bald-faced hornets – there aren’t as many in a nest, but they are larger, and they inject more venom when they sting. Liquids or aerosols are the best formulations to use in treating their nests. Because of their aggressive nature, it is advised to have a pest control professional treat and remove the nest.
Yellow Jackets
Aggressive, venomous, and easily agitated describe Yellow-jackets, especially in Fall when their nests are at their largest. Yellow-jackets may build their nests virtually anywhere – in a hollow space in the ground, hanging in a tree, hanging beneath eaves, in an attic or crawlspace, or in a wall void are common locations. Yellow-jackets are predators whose presence is usually not seen until the colony is large enough to be in the way of human activities like mowing the lawn, painting or when they make their way into the living space.
Moths
Indian meal moths prefer whole grain materials: nuts, raisins and other dried fruit, beans, popcorn, dried corn, some dried flowers, and sometimes wicker products. Treatment for Indian meal moths is essentially the same as for carpet beetles, but it needn’t be as extensive since the beetle’s choice of food materials is comparatively limited.
Stinging Insects
Is the threat of stinging insects stopping you from relaxing outdoors? Don't let it! These dangerous pests can easily be controlled with the help of our stinging insect control in Seattle. We will quickly reduce activity in nests and eliminate the threat of re-colonization in your yard so you can enjoy the warm weather outside without the fear of getting stung!
Voles are a type of rodent similar to the mouse, famously known for damaging the roots of your lawn, trees, and shrubs. There are 124 species of voles in the Northern Hemisphere, with 23 species commonly found throughout the United States, including the prairie vole, meadow vole, pine vole, and Oregon vole. With other names, like meadow mice, field mice, meadow moles, and ground moles, they are easily confused with mice, hamsters, shrews, moles, and other types of rodents.
Raccoons
Just as we insulate the sides and attics of our homes, we also need to provide crawl space insulation. The installation of effective insulation in your crawl spaces can save you up to 25% on utility expenses. Additionally, it helps seal off areas of your house that may otherwise be accessible to problem animals such as raccoons.Â
Many rodents and other wildlife prefer living in attics, where insulation provides a comfortable nesting area. The danger arises when those uninvited guests contaminate your insulation, because it can create a health hazard for you and your family. That’s where Eastside comes in with our attic cleaning services—not only will we remove the rodents, but we will also ensure your family isn’t breathing in any contaminated air.Â
Mice
A rat slab is just as straightforward as it sounds – a thin slab of non-structural concrete poured over the dirt floor of your crawl space. This impermeable layer protects against rats and mice digging into your crawlspace from the outside of your foundation wall. Combined with other measures to protect your home, a slab is a very effective technique for many homeowners.
