SurgCenter of Greater Phoenix

The billing is a mess! They told me to NOT pay my bill for several months no matter what as I guess they were waiting for my insurance to pay which happened in 30 days. So 3 months later they are threatening me with collections! I call them and the billing guy tells me that they NEVER would have said that. He has never been there. I said that you don't make up something like that. Then I reminded him that they had told me I would not pay more than an amount which was 50% of the outstanding bill and that I had paid that on the day of the surgery, so I basically owed $5. Only after mentioning this, did he "find" his copy of the payment agreement I'd signed. Somehow, they never were motivated to look at and honor it before. Then, he said I'd never given them any money! Guess what, on the day of my surgery my FSA card was charged. He said no. So, I called up my doctor's office which of course is separate and doesn't talk with the surgical center. The person there said, "yes, you have a credit on your account for several hundred dollars." Are you kidding me? I said, pay my bill at the surgical center you all made me go to. "Oh, I can't do that," she said. So, I have to repay my FSA card nearly $600 this week, while they casually decide when to issue me my check for the "credit" amount. Who leaves nearly $600 sitting in their doctor's account? Why didn't the doctor's office call me? They knew I had the surgery the day of the charge. Why doesn't the surgcenter talk to the doctor before they overcharge me AND threaten me with collections! I WOULD NEVER USE this facility again!
