Grigg & Davis Engineers PC, located in Scarsdale, NY were originally tasked to provide an analysis to a scary situation. As backdrop here, My wife and I are new homeowners who found ourselves on the receiving end of a municipality violation and unfriendly neighbors.

I'd been through about 8 engineering firms and only two responded but it was Grigg & Davis Engineers PC who called us back promptly, with a hands on approach. Louise Grigg was very understanding of our situation. I could immediately tell she was passion driven, she had a game plan, and her experience led her to inform us of what the next steps to take and how to approach it. All without having looked at our problem (wall failure, a giant wall).

She put us on the path of a great Surveyor who will receive a review from us shortly. Their pricing and service crush the competition in the Westchester area. More than likely because Louise has such a dynamic relationship and network.

The Visit: She was forthright, incisive, and thorough. To be honest i would expect the same diligence from anyone who has a P.E. license. What sets her firm and herself from the competition is to personalize the circumstance within the boundaries of our professional contract. Details with regard to wall and neighbors and how the city would/why be involved is external, but she helped. She didnt have to, she set me up with contacts i would have never found on my own...once again, she didnt have to.

She put us on a path with bench-marked moves to make; and she didnt have to. the simple fact is, me and my wife are new homeowners and are only a few years out of college. Grigg and Davis were perceptive enough to know we were in need of directing. Instead of hiring her for a simple task of providing a report to the city, she gave us a fighting chance; and for that we will be forever grateful.

Working with Grigg and Davis was excellent. They were professional, knowledgeable and responsive. As an architect, I have worked with several engineering firms over the years, and my experience with Grigg and Davis stands out as one of the most positive and effective. Their work product was excellent, I got to work directly with the principals, and when my deadlines got tight, they stepped up and really helped me stay on schedule. That’s worth a lot. Grigg and Davis Engineers PC have helped our firm (J. Taylor Design Group LLC) with both residential and commercial projects. We have found them to be smart, thorough, trustworthy and responsive. They're always willing to collaborate with us to come up with elegant, cost-efficient and creative structural solutions.

The Millwood Fire District hired Bond Davis to insure that aging Fire Station #1 was structurally sound. Bond was very helpful to us in developing various alternatives - from low cost to higher cost - to make sure that the building was sound. The District opted for the solution that maximized the work space for the firefighters.



Grigg & Davis developed the construction drawings, managed the bidding process and reviewed the bids to make sure that the bids reflected the work required. The work was completed in June of 2009 and the second floor is now open for meetings! Everyone is happy.

We have worked with G&D for two permitted projects in the last 2 1/2 years, the first was restoring the stone walls around our driveway and front yard, which were cracked and crumbling after 75 years. We were originally referred to them through our most excellent contractor, Arthur Lange Inc. of Bronxville. The second project involved repairing a failing 25 foot retaining wall in our back yard. G&D was able to offer us a solution to repairing the retaining wall, incorporating our preference to control all aspects of the job without having to obtain sign off from neighboring property owners. The design was fully approved by our local Building Department on the first submission. We are homeowners, not professional architects or builders, and we were quite impressed with the amount of time Louise Grigg devoted to handholding, explaining the scope of the job, and the timing of the project, all with patience. Our mason, JMA Landscaping, worked extremely well with this firm, which we think is important to note, and no part of the construction had to be redone. Inspections were thorough and done on site, through all stages of the project. G&D is professional, offers practical solutions, and adds that extra touch of personal support. We definitely recommend this firm and would use them again.
