        Welcome to Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Ninety-five years ago, Mr. Charles P. Rogers, Sr. founded Rogers Funeral Service. In those days, furniture makers provided coffins because commercial coffin manufacturers did not exist. Mr. Rogers actually started the funeral home from the old Lee Furniture Company on Chatham Street in 1913. As time progressed, Mr. Rogers started an ambulance service out of the funeral home to assist the needs of a growing town of Sanford. Our hospitals in early days were not equipped to provide services of an ambulance. Mr. Rogers started an ambulance service within the funeral home to serve our community. Charles Rogers became ill during WWII, and his son, Charles P. "Charlie" Rogers, Jr., who was serving his country in the war, was summoned back to take over his ailing father's business. Our founder, Charles P. Rogers, Sr. passed away in 1947. Charlie Jr. then ran the funeral home until his death in 1972. Following his death, a longtime funeral home employee, William T. "Tommy" Pickard, acquired ownership of the funeral home. Fifty-eight years later, Tommy passed away. Today, his son, W.T. "William" Pickard, Jr. is the fourth generation owner. Today, we are proud that we are still that same privately owned, family business. We are in our 4 th location since the funeral home was formed. Still carrying on the tradition of providing high quality and affordable services to fit the needs of those we serve. Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home, Inc has 95 years experience in providing personal and meaningful final tributes, one family at a time.

        Death and the grief that follows is heart wrenching, and planning a funeral in the midst of that grief is beyond difficult. William Pickard and James Phillips made sure the planning for my husband's (Rodney Gaines) funeral was anything but difficult. I could never fully express to the staff at Rogers Pickard how their compassion and assistance with planning took so much stress away from me during this time. I have dealt with several funeral homes in the past, as I am not originally from Sanford, but the experience with the staff at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home was beyond any expectation I could have ever had.
        I am forever grateful to William Pickard, James Phillips and each staff member for their guidance, patience, knowledge and love during one of the most difficult times in my life. You all are truly a gift from God!

        I have never had the occassion...

        I have never had the occassion to deal with Rodgers Pickard Funeral Home until yesterday. My neighbor's daughter passed away and this is the place she chose to care for her. I was with her during the process of trying to make arrangements. Believe me when the time comes for myself or my husband, this will be the place I want to take care of us The time is tough enough, but with their caring and compassion it was made so much easier . We were not rushed to make any decessions. Every question that was asked was answered. They went out of their way to help with everything. Thank goodness the staff is so easy to work with.
