Overall

We chose Tree of Life for our third homebirth. Going in I had very high and slightly unrealistic expectations as my midwife for baby two helped us have an absolute dream birth in North Carolina. I was scared to say the least. I have to say though that our birth with Kaleen from Tree of Life was exactly what I had hoped for and more. The only downside to such amazing care is a longer office wait than what I imagine you would find in a traditional OB setting. But that just comes with long personal prenatal visits. She not only cares about your baby and pregnancy, but about your emotional wellbeing and there is no way to rush those visits! Kaleen was available any time I needed advice and she always offered a loving and gentle hand.

Kaleen's skill and loving touch made for another beautiful and completely fulfilling pregnancy and birthing experience. If we have another baby, we will not hesitate to birth with Kaleen again.

I went to see Kaleen when I was halfway through my pregnancy after having a horrible experience at another local birth center. They helped me make payment arrangements my husband I were comfortable with. The staff all were so very helpful and made me feel very comfortable when I was at the center. I was so comfortable during my pregnancy I couldn't decide if I wanted a home birth or a center birth. The day of I decided to stay home and Audrey and Kaleen came. It was the best birth experience, and I am so grateful for the memories I will have of my third baby being born. I feel like if I ever had a question I could always call without an issue. I highly highly recommend them!!

I went here to have an IUD placed for birth control because my husband and I were not sure if we were done having children after our 2nd child. I went for a consultation, gave them our insurance information and they called us back later that week and gave us a quote, We asked them to verify the quote and they called us back the following week and told us the original quote is all we are responsible for out of pocket. We went forward with the IUD procedure and 3 months later they called us and told us that they are considered out of network for United Health Care and that now we owed them an additional $1,000 for the procedure. We told them that they gave us the quote twice after giving them our insurance and they hounded us for over a year for us to pay because their billing dept did not get accurate information form insurance when they originally called. Unbelievably bad srevice and rude billing dept. I would not recommend goign to the Tree of Life Brith and Gynecology center to anyone!!!

Grab a number and your paperwo...

Grab a number and your paperwork and sit down, because a number is all you are to them.

I was really excited to schedule my appt and meet my future midwife after conversing with Kaleen over email... but when I went in for my consult I ended up with Maggie and boy did she make my entire experience awkward as hell. First off, they have a video playing in the waiting room of women giving birth which to me... being this is my first pregnancy was unnerving. I don't feel emotionally ready to think about going through the worst pain of my life yet, let alone watching other women do so in the company of complete strangers... women, children, grandparents... awkward.

Then when Maggie came to get me for my consult, she just assumed whoever was in the waiting room was with me and invited everyone back. I told her how awkward that could be seeing as we didn't know those people - some of which were children. What if they were with me and I wanted my consult alone? How uncomfortable a position to put ME in.

Maggie was unorganized, not very personable and just did not relax or comfort me or educate me in the least. She told me next to nothing and asked if I had questions. I didn't even know where to begin - it's all new to me! I thought she would fill me in! I was no at all at ease with her, I found myself unable to talk to her even if I wanted to (which I didn't) and would never recommend anyone else to go here. I would have asked to see the other midwife but usually one midwife is the back up for the other and I would hate to end up with Maggie as my back up.
