The San Mateo County Health Department provides a variety of health services to residents of San Mateo County, Calif. The department operates through divisions that are focused on aging and adult services; health in correctional facilities; emergency medical services; environmental health; mental health; public health; and health policy, planning and promotion. Through these divisions, the department provides in-home care and information services; physical, mental and dental health care; treatment for chemical dependency; plans and policies with regard to disaster preparedness; education, monitoring and enforcement of regulatory programs; immunizations; nutrition programs; a public laboratory; clinical services; vital statistics; and disease control and prevention.
