San Marcos River Pub & Grill

Kind of pricey, but I personally love the food - makes it worth it! And the view of the river is awesome.

Can you believe a restaurant, esp in these economic times, that makes its customers feel so unwelcome and disposable? I used to love this place, but I will never go back there. First, you're greeted with a list of rules instead of a smile and "welcome". Be prepared to get the hostess' attention - she will never acknowledge you first. Name of the restaurant "River Pub" - it's actually on my favorite river - the San Marcos, so you would think they would cater to that crowd. Yeah, not so much. I went in there damp - very modestly dressed - sandals, shorts, VERY modest one-piece bathing suit (I had more clothes on than 90% of the girls there). They wouldn't let me go into the bar to place an order to go. The hostess wouldn't take my order to the bar - approximately 15 feet! Then the manager wouldn't take my order into the bar. Really?



As I was leaving, a family of about 10 was getting out of their cars. They were damp and I mentioned that they would not be able to get in like that. The mother had apparently already been in (she was spitting mad) and turned away because they had a birthday cake "NO OUTSIDE FOOD". Really?



Kim Gunnarson (owner) - if you give a rat's behind about your restaurant, I would get over there pdq and get things straightened out. You should experience your own restaurant as if you were a customer. Your customers shouldn't be such a burden to you and your staff.

Great location and vistas. Bad foord and service. Bunch of frozen fried food. Soo much potential. Needs a revamp in the waitstaff and menu/cooks.
