Primary Care
We will take care of any outside referrals you may need for conditions that we do not treat. If what you need is complex skin cancer surgery or a contact dermatitis specialist, no problem. We also work closely with primary care doctors to make sure our patients get the best care possible.
Emergency Care
Hives can be very uncomfortable. If your lips, mouth or throat start to swell, you must go to an emergency room. Usually though hives start out of the blue with tremendous itching and areas of rash that migrate all over the body. Most of the time we actually never find the cause for the hives. Treatment is very helpful. You can try antihistamines first, but call to make an appointment, too. Lab work can sometimes be helpful and we can get that started for you.
Immunizations
Shingles (also called herpes zoster) can be quite frightening. Many older patients are now getting vaccinated against it. We are starting to see patients coming in with very mild forms of shingles who have received the vaccination. Please call for an appointment if you think you may have shingles, and we will get you in as soon as possible. Starting treatment promptly is important.

Eczema
Atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, is a common skin condition seen in up to 20% of children. Children with eczema typically suffer from dry, red, itchy skin that can cause significant discomfort and impaired sleep. We believe eczema is caused by a breakdown of the skin barrier and an increased immune response leading to inflammation. We also understand that bacteria on the skin may drive some of the inflammation seen in atopic dermatitis. There are many potential triggers including prolonged exposure to water without moisturizing, overly dry climates, low humidity, emotional stress, overheating of the skin, harsh soaps, fragrance and bubble baths.
Lesions
Lumps and bumps can be scary. Maybe it is something you have never seen before, or something that is changing. Certain forms of skin cancer can start as small bumps, so call if you have a concern. Small cysts and concerning moles are treated in the office at the time of your visit under local anesthesia. Larger lesions will need to be scheduled for surgery. We are often a good place to start, as all our procedures are done in-office with no need for an OR, etc. If you need to be sent to a general surgeon, we will help arrange that. It is always very important to call for any lesion that you are worried may be skin cancer.
