Travcar Car Rental

This place is absolutely horrible. Firstly, I would like to say when we had picked up the car we noticed a few scatches and dings on the car that they had said in perfect condition. Later, upon return they said there was a scratch on the front bumper that we did. When we did not do that damage and it was in a place we would never check for considering it was nearly under the car. I had to give them my personal insurance info because I did not have the info of the collision insurance I had purchased when renting the car. I was told by the employee they would contact me before they contacted my insurance. However, I never heard from them and rather received a call from my insurance saying they were making a claim without my knowledge. After finally working all that out and with the collision insurance I had purchased I attempted to call the rental place to get the needed information. Only to have the customer service yell over me and not let me talk. She wouldn't even let me leave a message. She kept telling me she would let a manager know but never did. I had to call twice and she kept yelling at me. Finally after I talked to someone and they sent me to information. They later contacted me telling me I would have to pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed by my collision coverage, after I had worked out already with my insurance that they would pay the dealer directly and I wouldn't have to pay anything. This company has belittled me and harassed me and tried to nickel and dime me for everything they can. DO NOT use this company. You will only get ripped off and hassled. I wish I had done more research before picking them.

Please...consider someone else before your rent from this company. Their customer service is awful...not nice AT ALL.

1) Waited about half an hour for shuttle to arrive and get us from airport to take to an off-site location several miles away--yet you are still charged AIRPORT FEES each day?? Came into to an EMPTY lot of cars...

2) I now waited another 30 minutes in the waiting area. I had originally reserved a full size car for $104....now I was being told there were no full size cars available--I could wait 45 minutes while new tires were being put onto a full size vehicle at some shop somewhere else--really??--or could downgrade...to the one Toyota Corolla that just rolled into the lot to be returned. I'll take the downgrade please, and ask "So how much will that be?" "$149." WHAT?!? I'm being down-graded yet up-priced?? After a lot of complaining on my part...FERNANDO did agree to honor the originally quoted price of $104.

3) PART 2--I returned car at about 8pm without incident, went to the airport, flew home to northern Ca. Early the next morning my friend realized he had left some clothing in the back seat of car...I IMMEDIATELY called the next morning--spoke with someone named VERONICA who was very rude, didn't have the time of day for me--kept me on hold (not a toll free call) for over ten minutes. I CAREFULLY described what was left in the car, she supposedly found it and told me if I wanted it, I would have to pay for shipping (which I already knew, but she was not nice about it at all)

12 DAYS LATER I receive a package that was shipped via FedEx 2 day--why so expensive--not like it was a rush at this point--AND I RECEIVED THE WRONG ITEMS!!!

CALLED yesterday to see what happened, spoke with JUSTIN, they took my number and I have YET to receive a call back---

THERE ARE JUST BETTER PLACES OUT THERE___NOT WORTH THE "DEAL" IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL IT THAT.

--SO SAD!!!

We rented from TravCar in the middle of July. We got Dodge Caliber which was not in best condition at all, The car has over 60 K mileage, numerous scratches and dents. If I would add a couple more dents they would probably not even notice that:)

At the end they chanrged me $10 airoport trasport fee, whcih I was totaly not aware of.

Plus they took $200 deposit on the top of rental fees.

When I returned the car back they said that they return my $200 deposit back to my debit card within 10 days.

It was 07/22/2010. As of today 08/16/2010 I still haven't received my deposit back...

Would I come back and rent there again? probably not!

I reviewed various rental car companies online before we decided on TravCar Car Rental San Diego. We saw excellent reviews for TravCar (with the exception of one guy who seems to slam every place he has ever rented on numerous websites; we put his aside), so we made our choice.



The pick-up time from the airport was timely, and the staff was personable and knowledgeable. We rented a small Hyundai that was in excellent condition.



The car worked perfect, so the only other interaction we had with the company was a phone call we made for directions back to their location. They were professional and handled our call promptly.



We would rate the experience four stars. We travel a lot and it was this best experience we have had with a rental car company.

We went to San Diego Memorial Weekend. We found this car rental company on carrentals.com and decided to rent with them because their cheap prices, WOW was that a mistake. DO NOT TAKE THE RISK!!! There cars were in terrible condition. The car we rented was filthy and was considered one of there premium cars. The inside had a smell of CIGARETTE SMOKE. Wires were coming out the tires tread, and customer service was terrible. This company is a joke. If your FAMILY'S SAFETY is important, reconsider renting from this company. We returned the car and rented from a better company.

My husband and I were looking for a reasonable-cost car rental at the San Diego airport with decent service. The reviews showed that Payless and Fox, the first two low-cost places we found, were awful, so we kept looking. On cars.com, my husband found TravCar. There was only one review, but it was by an outfit that included its webpage address in the review, suggesting that it's a legitimate review rather than a plant, so we went with TravCar. The service in reserving the vehicle was very good. The web page wouldn't let us have a pickup time later than 7 pm, but our plane was arriving at San Diego at 9 pm, so we called them. They made the change manually to 9 pm and told us how to proceed if our plane is late. When we arrived in San Diego, the TravCar shuttle arrived at the airport for us in about 10 or 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and courteous. Our car was in very good driving condition and the interior was clean, but the car wasn't spotless -- the windshield and rear view mirror were dirty. When we went to drop off the car at the end of our stay, and looked more closely at the bill (which we should have done when we picked the car up, but we were tired), we found that TravCar had billed us for over $60 per day although we had reserved the vehicle for about $34. per day. When we pointed that out and showed the TravCar staff person our reservation information, he immediately reduced the bill to $34 per day. All-in-all, I can't quite rate TravCar 5 stars, but we were pleased with the service. The next time I go to San Diego, I will use TravCar if their price remains this competitive.

We run a Christian music magazine (www.christianmusictimes.com), and have occasion to rent cars often. We rented from Travcar Car Rental while in San Diego for a concert, and they were probably the finest group we have ever rented a car from.



They gave us what seemed like four-star concierge service. Their agent Justin went out of his way to make sure we had directions, suggested certain points of interest, gave us a car that was impeccably clean; he further made sure we were familiar with the cars features.



We have never written a review outside of Christian music, but it was our pleasure to write this one. We highly recommend TravCar Car Rental to anyone traveling in the San Diego California area.
