The mission of the San Diego Department of Planning & Land Use is to maintain and protect public health, safety and well-being. The organization preserves and enhances the quality of life for San Diego County, Calif., residents by maintaining a comprehensive general plan and zoning ordinance, implementing habitat conservation programs, ensuring regulatory conformance and performing comprehensive community outreach. It functions as the planning agency for the unincorporated area formulating community plans and coordinating land use considerations. The San Diego Department of Planning & Land Use is located in the city of San Diego.
