- Approximately 80% of our business is computerized fuel systems. Due to today's technological advances, automobiles are becoming more complex. Some of them talk to you; and, some even talk to themselves. Most U.S. manufacturers as well as most Japanese manufacturers have on-board computers in their cars' fuel systems, with sensors to evaluate throttle position, coolant temperature, oxygen content in exhaust, engine load and many others. All of this to calculate proper fuel mixture and correct timing for any given circumstances and driving conditions. With these computerized fuel systems, there is no way of knowing what your automobile needs without a diagnosis. This is why we offer customers a diagnosis and estimate first! Carburetors Technicians at San Diego Carburetor have been rebuilding fuel systems expertly for decades. We do not use existing market carburetor kits; we rebuild original carburetor bodies in foreign and domestic cars, motorhomes and boats by using individual new parts. Standard warranty is one year. Every repaired vehicle is set up to comply with state smog requirements, making it easy for you to get your certification at a licensed smog station. I went in For work in my 1965 dodge van. And I saw a 1970 dodge van in the back of his shop so know I was at the right place. Within an hour he said it was fuel pump. Bing bang boom. All done in less than an hour. Everything works fine and I got a military discount. Highly recommended.
I have a 29 year old Mazda and failed smog test in late April. I got 3 recommendations from a Normal Heights service station on where to have car repaired. Called one, made appointment but after thinking about the conversation decided to call San Diego Carburetor. My instinct told me to take my car to SD Carburetor which I did. Very glad I did. Stan was mindful of my budget (retired) and kept me apprised of cost. More importantly, he explained what he was doing on my car and reason. Honest person; busy shop, felt my car was in good hands. Car passed its smog test and I feel it runs smoother. It took time but Stan's work and experience was worth it. I definitely recommend San Diego Carburetor.
I just wanted to say what a great job you and your team did on my 1985 El Camino. Since you rebuilt the carburetor the car has never run better. On my drive from San Diego to my new home in Dallas I experienced greater performance and gas mileage. The car starts easier and runs smoothly. In short, no problems. My wife has a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder which runs pretty smooth. Once in a while she rides with me in my truck. The other day, driving on the freeway in my truck, she says to me, “I noticed my antenna is falling off.” This is the truth, she really thought we were in the Pathfinder.
