Eric Roeland, MD, is a board-certified medical oncologist and palliative medicine physician. Dr. Roeland is part of the https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/cancer/programs/gastrointestinal/Pages/default.aspx at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, where he works alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide patients with highly specialized care. He is committed to finding more effective solutions for improving the quality of care for cancer patients with advanced disease. He also understands the importance of integrating cancer treatment with optimal symptom control. Dr. Roeland is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, where he instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His current research is primarily focused on symptom intervention clinical trials across the entire spectrum of cancer. Ultimately, he wants to promote a new standard for cancer care: simultaneous integrated oncology and palliation.He completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine and a residency in internal medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine.
