Dr. Calvin Wong is a board-certified family medicine and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician located in San Diego, California. He is the medical director of the Metropolitan Comprehensive Medical Center as well as a practicing physician at his private practice, serving the needs of downtown San Diego in family medicine, occupational medicine, and sports medicine. He also served as the medical team physician of the NFL San Diego Chargers from 2001 to 2017. Dr. Wong earned a BA in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Following his graduation from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, he completed an internship with Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles. He then received advanced training by completing a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at UCSD. He has also received the honor of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. With his vast experience, Dr. Wong specializes in sports injuries, arthritis, annual physical exams, and men’s and women’s health. He has hospital privileges at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital, and Scripps Mercy Hospital. Dr. Wong also volunteers at the clinic in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSD. As an active member of the medical and local community, Dr. Wong is thrilled to help Metropolitan Comprehensive Medical Center serve the people of San Diego.
