In January I went into their office to renew my out of state registration and paid over 200 dollars for them to do it. This week I received a poorly written letter that I needed to come back in and pay 33 dollars because there was error in the title transfer. After arguing on the phone with Nancy Alvarez for 5 minutes that I wasn't there for a title transfer, I was there to renew my out of state registration. She still said I needed to come in to pay 33 dollars because there was an error in the VIN and this was my mistake. This is a scam!

I moved back to Texas from out of state so I had to find a place to register my car in person. I found this place through the TXDMV.gov---> Bexar website. I thought it was strange a "government" place would open on a Saturday AND be empty when you walk in. Turns out it was EXTRA FIFTEEN dollars to get my car registered through here than through the actual government tax office locations PLUS an extra $2 for using a credit card or even a debit card. Twice when I called this location to make sure I can register an out-of-state car did they NOT tell me. Granted it did say on the Bexar website "for a minimal fee" but didn't give an exact amount. When I told the lady she basically implied it was my fault "well you could have asked when you called." How am I supposed to ask something I don't even know or even think about. Then she said it was on their wall...which I did not see b/c it was in the opposite wall facing the people at the desk. So I'm supposed to turn my head when I walk in and see that?!! She also did not mentiond the extra charge as she was processing my paperwork. When it came out to be $90 I asked her why it was so expensive THEN she explained the fees. Money-making scheme.
