Beware of this place they busted my ac condenser then tried charging me for there mistake then they finally said they’ll fix and refill it if I bought the condenser which was $100 out of my pocket then after dropping it off they call me and say they don’t carry my r1234 Freon or the tip it needs to be filled so I’d be out of pocket for the recharge which can be several hundred so plz beware of this place

After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic.

We'll unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options.

Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carl's prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED.

2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery.

Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughter's birthday party in 4 days. We didn't need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal.

I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan.

TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!

Right now I am giving Performa...

Right now I am giving Performance automotive 4 stars for now. This may go up or down from here on this is what happened to me. My prelude was not leaking oil but eating it. And I kept getting code for an ERG insufficent air flow and I didn't feel I was getting the gas mileage I should be either. I brought it to them and they replaced the ERG valve to the tune of about $500. Soon after leaving the engine light came back on and I ignored it out of frustration na d knowing it wasn't a serious problem. But after a couple weeks I checked the oil and it was bone dry. So I put oil in it and brought it back to performance auto not too happy I spent $500 and didn't fix not one of my problems with my car. They spent a couple hours looking at car free of charge. Told me I need new o2 sensor and rings and seals needed to be replaced in engine. And even took the time to show me why they rings and seals needed to be replaced. With the oil cap off while the car was running exaust was coming up through the manifold and out the oil cap. They said the would change the O2 sensor for just the cost of the part they would not charge me labor. I know it is something easy to change, but it was nice of them to do. I go back today to have them do that. And I will find out about the cost to replace rings and seals in the engine. I hope I don't get gouged on this, because I already spent my savings on replacing the erg valve on the car.

Distrust

Took my 1975 Chevy C10 Truck in on a saturday after a phone conversation with the establishment inquiring about getting a leaking TH350C automatic sealed (transmission runs and shifts fine). Quoted under $100.

Received a phone call from establishment quoting me $600 for work (sounds like a rebuild price). I advised would just like the transmission sealed for the first price quoted. They will call me back after they get it back on the lift.

Received a call from business and was advised driveshaft was jammed in tranny tailhousing and could not work on vehicle. (I recently swapped out 3 speed manual for the automatic and had no issue putting the driveshaft in). O.k. , no problem, i thought i had done something incorrectly on the swap.

Took truck home, pulled in my garage and slid under side to take a look. I had 1 inch and 1/4 of the yoke showing out of the tailhousing (plenty of travel space). Definately not "jammed" into the tailhousing.

Removed bolts from u-joint at rearend, slid the driveshaft yoke 1 1/4" into the tranny tailhousing and driveshaft came off easily.

Now, if i didnt want to get the $600 rebuild done, and to seal the transmission was going to require a little more time/labor than the $100 quote, couldnt i have been quoted a new price (somewhat higher) instead of being fed such a blantant story? (i use the word "story" as the word "lie" is not nice.

If you were not or could not make money off this service, a simple phrase on my initial telephone call could have went like this "My apologies sir, we do not do that type of work, the labor cost would just be to high.
