Mike's Downtown Garage

So I am told by the well dressed gentleman in the front that the cabin filter in my car is bad and needs to be replaced. and the estimate : $35 for the filter and $72 (0.8 hours) labor. Found the same filter part number at Automax for $18.99 . And a real time youtube video 3.5 minutes long on how to replace the cabin filter for my same car model. Just wondering what sort of an incompetent mechanic works at this place that takes almost an hour to do this work , when an absolute beginner like myself was able to do in about 5 mins? Makes sense why the man was repeatedly asking me "You know what a cabin filter is right ? ", probably got the idea that I was not a automobile savvy person and decided to steal some money and more .



Surprised that thieves and crooks come in all shapes these days. They also "diagnosed" other issues with my car, and quoted me a high rate to fix them. When I told them that I am not interested , miraculously the quote started coming down significantly. Wondering how this kind of criminal behavior can be punished.



Took the car to another mechanic downtown referred by a friend and fixed some minor issues that were not caught in the "elaborate and extensive diagnosis" done by these guys.



Please stay away from these cheats and their paid reviews. Absolutely Disgusted!!

I took my car in a few months back to get the oil changed. Had a decent experience, it is close to my office so I was able to drop off my car and come back after work. I got the synthetic blend oil change for $20 and thought it was a great deal. I attempted to bring my car in again this morning and they told me that the $20 deal would not work for my car and I had to use the $50 full synthetic. I was extremely concerned because they either put the wrong oil in my car the first time or were trying to take advantage of me and get me to spend more money. Needless to say I did not leave my car there and will no longer use their services. The sad part is that it was the same service manager I dealt with the first time that told me the $20 deal would not work for my car. When I explained to him that I took it to him previously and was concerned that the wrong oil has been in my car for three months he shrugged his shoulders and said we will flush it out. It was absolutely ridiculous and I hope he does not feel that way with all services that they provide. Next time he may shrug his shoulders when they don't put the lug nuts on tight enough.

Im from out of town and had some brake problems. Was referred to Mike's and i must say is the best and most honest auto repair in the state of Texas.....Thanks Mikes

I was referred to Mike's Downtown Garage from two of my co-workers who have used the garage with good results. I took my car in before work to have it diagnosed. The service manager was helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. By the time lunch came around he had called me with a quote and said it would b ready the same day. I needed a new water pump and thermostat. My car runs great and Mike's gave me a great deal. I'm glad I have a dependable, honest mechanic to take my car to.

I am a student at UTSA and my battery was dead yesterday. I talked to the security guard and he gave me the phone number to Mike's Downtown Garage and i am so glad I called.



Gabriel came to my car and brought some battery charger and started my car. I went back to the shop and bought a battery and they also found that 2 of my tires were low and that i was short one quart short of oil. Who knew? My parents live in Austin and I am on my own.



Thanks to Mike's I am not alone.
