I was in no rush - the knives were dull for years! I'm a regular customer now. I'd rather give a business no pressure to rush and give me the best service available. I had a tip of one knife broken off and they disappeared it - sharpened the tip right off.

If you're in a hurry, that's your problem. These guys are the best. I just don't like the new hours - closed by 3:30. Hope that was pandemic related. Will find out shortly.

Was told my knife would be ready in 1 week. When I arrived a week later the knife had not been sharpened and I was told to return in 2 hours. I arrived the next day and my knife was still not attended to. When I pointed out my disgust, the dude offered to do a rush job. I took my knife and left. If you're looking for really bad service try Diamond knife and shear co. I see another fellow left a similar review.

I brought my chipper blades here to be sharpened. the manager was out of the office but one of the other employees who actually does the work in the back was very helpful. He was a pleasant guy with a good sense of humor. He told me the work would be done in a week and qutoed me a price. One week later i renturned and spoke with the manager to pick up the blades. all of them were sharpened very well and he advised me on how to adjust the baaldes to get the best use out of my machine. I will be a repeat customer for sure.

I stop by the ship and they STILL AREN'T DONE!!!I call the owner and he tells me" sorry but I'm talking too another customer" ..really?+??.. I'm telling anyone who reads this ..DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

I own an array of edged tools ...

I own an array of edged tools and weapons, and decided to give Diamond Knife & Shear a shot at my business.

Having lived in San Antonio for over 20 years, I've done business with a handful sharpening services and most are pricey if you are not a regular or contract customer. Before trusting some of my delicate knives to a new service, I will typically drag in my 22-inch lawn machete complete with nicks, stains, and overall crappy edge. I figure if they can clean it up and put a nice, professional edge on the blade I can expect they will do the same for pricier blades.

With that said, here are my observations about DKS:

POSITIVE:

A sharp, clean machine edge along the length of the machete. No chips or dents from previous abuse.

Despite normal turnaround time being '4 days', I offered to pay cash and was told I could probably pick it up in a few hours.

NEGATIVE:

Of the 4 people I dealt with from start to finish, none could give me an exact price on what it would cost to sharpen a 22-inch machete other than to say it would 'be around $12'. This was after they had seen the machete. As the other has reviewer pointed out, DKS pre-prints a $4 'environmental fee' or some such nonsense on their invoices. You are not told about this up-front, and you may not catch it if you are just dropping off cutlery and leaving in a hurry. Haven't seen this questionable business practice since buying a used car in the 90's...

When completed, I expected the machete to have a polished and finished edge, but it was turned around in the same cosmetic condition as I turned it in. I had to double-take to make sure the work was actually done. When I asked one of the employees if they could polish up the edge a bit, he had to consult with the owner, who then walked in from teh shop to explain that I should have told them I wanted a polish FIRST, as they will now have to take out the edge and start with the polish. What came next was the only quote I will remember from the company for a long time. When I asked if I would be charged again for the polish + sharpening, or maybe pay a prorated fee, the owner stated, "Oh yes, we'll have to charge you again. We got so much work, we're wasting time just standing here talking about this."

So basically DKS doesn't need your machete, lawn mower blade, kitchen knife, pruning shears, or any other junk that keeps them from fulfilling contract work. Their website seems to claim otherwise though...

My suggestion to DKS is to remove that part of the site and save everyone the trouble of finding out their junk scissors, folding knife, or axe head is not worth their time. Unless of course you don't mind coughing up a percentage of the overall value of your item for a machine sharpening.

My suggestion for people looking to have their yard tools sharpened is to call a local BBQ restaurant or barber shop and ask who sharpens *their* blades. You'll likely find a mobile service that doesn't advertise to the public and will be happy to clean up your blades if you ask them.

Too expensive. Took a pair of regular house scissors and they wanted to charge $12 to sharpen them, I agree to that, but then they wanted $4 to write up the invoice which I questioned. Then they said that the invoice was not necessary but that there was a $4 dollar charge for service? I thought I was paying $12 for the service! And of course there is tax included. Therefore I would be paying almost $20 dollars to sharpen a very simple pair of scissors.
