Founded in 1984 and chartered in 1988 as a 501 nonprofit organization, the Assistance League of San Antonio has a staff of more than 490 members. It is a recipient of the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization of San Antonio award. The Assistance League of San Antonio s programs are carried out through agencies, schools and organizations. Have a Heart is a fundraiser program that is sponsored by each year's incoming class of new members of the Assistance League of San Antonio. It is a chapter of the National Assistance League, which is the first nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization to recognize the potential of volunteers helping those less fortunate to a better, more meaningful life. The Assistance League of San Antonio maintains a location in San Antonio.
