Swanson's Cleaners

I have used this cleaner for years, and up until a year ago, they did a good job. In the past year things have changed, personnel changed and their methods of cleaning changed. I have been told that they shop much of the work out to cheaper shops.



5 months ago, over a 3 week period I got back 4 dress shirts (good quality) that were torn - All on the left sleeve below the elbow. This cleaner will tag anything going in that is not perfect, so I found it odd that there were no "defect" notices on any of the shirts. When taking them back to the Granite Bay store they sent them to the corporate store twice only to be told that this was a wear issue, not a cleaning issue. None of the fabric around the tears appeared thin (even under a microscope) and the tears were like blowouts...



While trying to resolve this issue, Swansons seemed to have misplaced a pair of dress pants on mine that I had just bought. Weeks later it turned up at the store with a huge tear in the middle of the pants seat (not at seam -about a 5" to 6" tear). They agreed to file a claim for the pants, but not the shirts.



2 weeks ago, 4+ months after we physically filed the claim, following 3 calls to the main office (each telling me that the check was in the mail) along with a sales receipt from Nordstrom’s replacing the destroyed dress pants, I got a check for about 40% of the cost of the pants. All in all, I have lost about $675 in fairly new clothes (one shirt was a little over a year old) and about $100 for my efforts. Insult onto injury was the fact that the Swanson Cleaner’s “Laura” lied to me 3 times telling me the check was in the mail.



I'm thinking of small claims court...



Anyone else have this same problem???
