My parents, both in their 90's, moved to Eskaton Village in July, 2010. We had researched a number of Assisted Living Facilities and in spite of slightly higher costs, we chose Eskaton. We were impressed by the quality of the facility. In fact, we have always kidded dad and mom about living in a Four Star Resort! During the past two plus years, there has never been a regret, both on the part of my parents and our family. They have enjoyed everything about Eskaton, especially the quality of the care they receive from the staff. We live out of state, but have spent quite a bit of time at Eskaton (at least six visits a year) with my parents (now just my mom - dad passed away this year). We continue to be impressed with the quality of care and the responsiveness of the staff. We are very glad we chose Eskaton Village Roseville!

My father has been receiving great care in the Memory Care unit of Eskaton Village Roseville for two years. I see him a minimum of five days a week at all times of the day or evening, and have always been impressed with the caring and capable staff.

My father values his independence, and has never wanted to live with family beyond his wife. For a long time after she passed he hid the extent of his decline, and his need for assistance. By being keenly aware of the continual changes in him, and anticipating his needs, the Eskaton staff has helped him to retain his dignity and as much independence as possible. He accepts and welcomes their gentle support and appreciates their attention and interest. The care he receives is individualized and personal. Their concern for his safety and health extends to his sense of well-being and fulfillment. Each staff member knows his likes and dislikes, and they go out of their way to create special moments and activities for him. In so many ways, they have become his extended family.

When he arrived in California, my father was near death. I was overwhelmed, to say the least. In addition to the staff, the expert guidance of the Eskaton management staff helped me navigate and quickly create a network of care for him. It is thanks to their care that he proudly “graduated” from hospice, and that my sisters and I have been blessed with the gift of time with him. For that, we are forever grateful.

My Grandmother has been a part...

My Grandmother has been a part of the wonderful Eskaton of Roseville since the first week they have opened. She has been very well taken care of each and every day. I visit her each week and talk with the staff every time I am there. They are extremely attentive and always smiles on their faces. They defiantly put their residents first and do everything to make them extremely comfortable. My grandma has been taken to the hospital in the middle of the night for a fall (stroke happen) and the staff worked instantly to get the paramedics in her room quickly to get her to the hospital in a very timely fashion, having no lasting results in the fall or stroke.

She had been in a couple different facilities in the area and by far LOVE Eskaton and the “Girls”. She always is telling me how nice they are to her and how well they take care of her. The management staff is excellent and very informative anytime you have questions, need anything, or special requests. They will make every effort to make the resident the happiest experience for each person. They treat each resident as their own family and it truly is a GREAT place to live.

The facility is responsive to addressing any issue and making sure the safety of their “family” is number one priority. I can visually see the smiles and happiness on the residents faces. The facility is clean, safe and a big Family.

Thank you Eskaton and keep up the GREAT work!!! You are all very appreciated!!

Eskaton started out as a stepp...

Eskaton started out as a stepping stone for my grandma's transition from living at home with her husband to moving into full time memory care. Their experience in their own home was fine, but the time came for her to be in a place with staff trained to deal with her decline into dementia. Before she was admitted to their memory care she was given a full evaluation by staff and my grandfather discussed the problems she was having at home (namely abusive language... no physical aggression towards him whatsoever). A few days after she moved into the memory care place, she started using the previously disclosed abusive language and hit doors. Eskaton's reaction was to call the police, stuck her in an ambulance, and put her in the hospital.

Are you kidding me?! My grandfather had no idea any of this had happened (despite the fact he lived less then a block away) until she was carted away. They didn't even call him so he could ride in the ambulance with her!!!!! Every single professional we have interacted with thinks this was EXTREMELY poorly handled by Eskaton. Her behavior isn't the least bit uncommon in dementia patients. I have to seriously question the way the staff is trained if the best they could do was call the police... and I definitely wonder why the police were contacted well before my grandfather and her husband of fifty years was notified. Needless to say, we will not let Grandma return to this environment.

Long story short, if you're choosing Eskaton as a retirement community, it's great! Lots of activities and a friendly community. But go somewhere, anywhere, else for memory care. Your loved one would be better off in a freaking McDonalds then this place.
