Radiation Therapy
For women who need radiation therapy to treat their breast cancer, staged or delayed breast reconstruction is advised vs. simultaneous breast reconstruction. If radiation is done on a newly constructed breast, it could cause the reconstructed breast with implant to become hard, or painful, and it can also cause the cosmetic appearance of the breast be altered or deformed. So after radiation therapy has been completed, the reconstruction can begin.

BOTOXÂ® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow’s feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOXÂ® relaxes wrinkles and gives the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOXÂ® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.
Brow Lift
Browlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance.

Liposuction
It is important for patients to have realistic expectations about the results of this procedure, as CoolSculpting is not designed to remove large volumes of fat like conventional liposuction procedures. CoolSculpting is considered a less invasive alternative for patients with modest-sized fat bulges. Dr. Asfa will help determine whether or not you are a candidate for CoolSculpting after a physical examination and an evaluation of your medical history.
Breast Augmentation
Each year, many women undergo breast augmentation. It has become one of the procedures most frequently performed on women today. Breast implant revision is a surgical procedure designed to replace older silicone implants with new saline-filled implants (or in certain patients, with newer silicone-filled implants). As with most medical devices, breast implants are not designed to last forever, and eventually many patients need to undergo at least one or more operations for routine implant replacement.
Breast Reduction
Breast implants can be used to augment one breast, making it similar to the other one. Breast reduction can be performed to reduce the larger of the two breasts. This involves removal of excess breast tissue, fat and skin. Either procedure results in breasts that are more similar in size. Correcting breast asymmetry has not only helped women improve upon their appearance, but it can also provide a boost to their self-esteem and self-confidence.
Breast Lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skinâ€™s natural elasticity or simply the effects of aging and gravity. The procedure can also reduce areolar size (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), and it can be combined with breast reduction for added firmness. This procedure is usually done under general anesthesia, and lasts from one to three hours.
Rhinoplasty
One of the most common plastic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, reduce or augment a person’s nose, remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, or to correct injury, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing.
Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is an operation to try to get back the shape of the breast after mastectomy (removal of a breast), or lumpectomy (removal of part of the breast). One in eight women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer during their lifetime. When mastectomy is a part of the treatment plan, many special concerns arise. One of the foremost fears is often that of permanent disfigurement. Recent advances in breast reconstruction have addressed many of these issues with sophisticated procedures that allow for restoration of the body and sense of wholeness.

Thigh Lift
Thigh lift is performed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper legs. Candidates typically suffer from loose, inelastic skin after extreme weight loss due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery. Because of this, the procedure is often combined with others such as breast lifts, facelifts and arm lifts to retain an attractive body proportion.
Face Lift
The incision is limited to the skin hairline junction above the ear and anterior to the ear. There is no extension behind the ear. The area of undermining, unlike a conventional facelift, is much smaller and only involves a portion of the cheek. Because there is less undermining, the blood supply to the skin is much more robust and the technique is therefore safer in smokers. There is much less risk of any skin necrosis, unlike other lifts. Permanent suspension sutures are used to elevate the underlying tissue. These pass down to the neck, jowls and cheek fat pad. Unlike many other facelifts which do not include significant mid face elevation, the MACS lift elevates the malar fat pad, reducing the nasolabial folds.
Neck Lift
A neck lift or chin liposuction is performed to remove excess fat beneath the chin and tighten loose skin in the neck. A less invasive alternative to a facelift, the procedure can produce dramatic results in the patient whose chin and/or neck has sagged with age or after weight loss.
Blepharoplasty
Because the malar fat pad is elevated, it combines very well with lower lid blepharoplasty. The result is a reduction in the height of the lower eyelid, giving a more youthful, smooth appearance.
Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty helps to flatten and shape the abdomen and waist by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles. The best candidates have pockets of fat or loose skin that haven’t responded well to diet and exercise. The procedure can also be useful for women with stretched skin and muscles from pregnancy.

Otoplasty
You may be a candidate for ear pinning (otoplasty) if you have ears that stick out too far from the side of the head. You may also want to have an otoplasty procedure if your ears have an unusual or undesirable shape. The goal is to create ears that have normal folds and shape with a normal protrusion from the side of the head.
Scar Revision
Surgical procedure to improve or minimize the appearance of scars, restore function, and correct disfigurement resulting from an injury, lesion, or previous surgery. The modalities employed to make scars less noticeable include changing scar direction so it lies within a normal skin crease or fold, debulking procedures, scar taping, scar massage, local steroid injection, medical grade skin tattoos (such as tattooing a beard stubble on a man to hide a scar), dermabrasion, collagen injections, chemical peels, cryosurgery, application of a pressure dressing or silastic sheeting, laser treatments and separation of the skin scar from deeper structures. The collective term for these is scar revision, repair, treatment or surgery.
Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips. These days, an injectable dermal filler is the most commonly used method of lip augmentation. There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips and around your mouth. Dr. Asfa also performs lip augmentation with lip implants.

She joined our team in April of 2017 as a Licensed Aesthetician and then went on to complete her Master’s of Esthetics, also at Blue Ridge. Jenny recently attended the Allergan Medical Institute’s CoolSculpting University, where she earned her certification in non-surgical Body Contouring.
Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty or male breast reduction surgery, is a procedure to correct gynecomastia, which is a condition of over developed or enlarged breasts in men. Gynecomastia can occur at any age, and can be the result of hormonal changes, heredity, obesity or the use of certain drugs. This condition can be highly embarrassing as well as physically uncomfortable. In cases where gynocomastia is primarily the result of excess fatty tissue, there are various liposuction techniques that can be used. Excision techniques are used when glandular tissue or excess skin must be removed, and if the aureola will be reduced or the nipple needs to be repositioned to a more natural male contour. Sometimes a combination of liposuction and excision techniques are used.

Chin Augmentation
Whether or not we notice it consciously, full cheeks are often a part of how we judge a person’s face. Cheek implants can have a major impact on the appearance and self-confidence of patients whose cheeks have thinned or sunken due to age, illness or other causes. Likewise, the chin helps provide harmony to the facial features. Often, patients come to the office desiring a smaller nose when, in fact, a chin augmentation provides a balance to the facial features. Skin Cancer
An initial consultation with Dr. Asfa is required prior to any laser treatments, so he can determine the best options for you based on your skin type and condition. Laser treatments are not suitable for everyone and may carry some risks. IPL/Laser treatments are not suitable when you have active infections, viral, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory skin conditions, an active tan or skin cancer. Use of retinoids and/or AHA/BHAâ€™s should be discontinued three days before treatment. The full list of risks and side effects will be thoroughly reviewed with you prior to treatment.
