Rochester Family Eye Clinic works with patients in need of urgent eye care. For conditions such as pinkeye, foreign body removal, flashes and floaters, eye pain and red eyes please contact our office for immediate attention. We will assist referring you on to the appropriate provider when specialized care is needed.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye disease that may lead to blindness. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve which interferes with its ability to transmit accurate visual information to the brains vision center. One indicator of Glaucoma is increased eye pressure. One of the very first tests performed in our office is tonometry which means eye pressure. During the exam our doctors will also check for signs of glaucoma with a detailed examination of the optic nerve. Your doctor may determine more thorough testing or procedures are necessary which often can be performed in our office. If indicated, you may be referred to an opthamologist in the area specializing in Glaucoma.
Macular Degeneration
We have a selection of low vision aids available for those with a visual impairment due to such conditions as Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. Many of these devices can assist patients with daily visual tasks that become more difficult without them. Please ask your doctor for more information on the latest technology.
Cataracts
During your eye exam the doctor checks for cataracts. A cataract is a clouding of the lens inside the eye. Some factors contributing to cataract formation are ultra violet light, aging, heredity and certain medications. If surgery is required, the crystalline lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens. Our office consults with several of the top cataract surgeons in Rochester and we can work with you in managing your postoperative care.
Eye Exam
“The eyes are the window to the body”. Consider this, a thorough eye examination can detect, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and several different types of neurological conditions. Please be sure and schedule an eye exam every 1 to 2 years or according to your doctor’s recommendations.
