Standard Mineral Company mines and processes pyrophyllite ore. The company owns a more than 1,500 acres of land. With a staff of over 35 people, it sells products under the Pyrax brand for various industrial and agricultural applications. Standard Mineral Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of R.T. Vanderbilt Company, is a member of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce. R.T. Vanderbilt Company has been in operation since 1916. The company sells nearly 60 varieties of minerals and chemicals in up to 80 countries throughout the world. It serves clients in the rubber, plastic, petroleum, paint, paper, pharmaceutical, agriculture, and wire and cable industries.
