General Info

The Department of Criminal Justice Services offers crime prevention and law enforcement services to the city of Richmond, Va. It has a correctional services division that is involved in a range of correction issues affecting state and federal prisons and local and regional jails. The correctional services division is also responsible for state probation and parole, local probation, community-based corrections, pretrial services, and diverse correctional programs and services. In addition, the Department of Criminal Justice Services has a victim services section that develops, coordinates and funds victim programs and sexual assault crisis centers to combat violence against women. The Department of Criminal Justice Services also has a juvenile services division that provides coordination, program support, technical assistance and training to address juvenile justice system improvement and delinquency prevention.
