Arthritis
Chondromalacia patella is a common condition characterized by softening, weakening and damage of the cartilage. The condition is most often seen among young athletes and older adults who have arthritis of the knee. It is especially seen in women.
Emergency Care
Deciding to have my knees examined by a professional in medicine was the smart and necessary move. I started with “Legacy Urgent Care” and three recommendations later, placed me in Dr. Dawson’s office. I found my first visit with him quite interesting and a gamer changer. It was short, informative, and to the point. On review of my X-rays and MRI – he said: “Your right knee is ugly! and your left knee is right behind it.” While I found his professional diagnosis humorous, I suspected he was right on the money (with arthritis, bone spurs, and no cartilage to cushion “bone on bone” with my every step). Dr. Dawson explained the process & procedure so I could understand clearly what I was to undertake. Let’s get this done now, I pleaded – the sooner the better.
Electrocardiogram
Prep work needed to be completed before my surgery (Lower my blood pressure, increase my blood count, CT scan, EKG reading, and complete a 2.5 hour “Total Joint Replacement Class”).
Pneumonia

Ultrasound
Fluid drainage: Fluid from your knee is drained using a needle that is guided by ultrasound. Steroid injections sometimes follow fluid drainage to reduce inflammation and pain.
MRI
Your doctor will evaluate your child’s condition by physical examination and medical history. Diagnostic tests such as X-ray and MRI scan may be required to confirm the condition and provide treatment.

Computed Tomography
To diagnose lateral patellar compression syndrome your doctor will ask about your symptoms, medical history, any sports participation, and activities that aggravate your knee pain. Your doctor will perform a physical examination of your knee. Diagnostic imaging tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans may be ordered to check if your pain is due to damage to the structure of the knee or because of the tissues that attach to it.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis: In this technique, a topical corticosteroid medication is applied to the affected area with the help of a small device that uses an electric charge to deliver the medication through your skin

General Surgery
Arthroscopy
Rotator cuff repair may be performed by open surgery or an arthroscopic procedure. In an arthroscopy procedure, space for the rotator cuff tendons will be increased and the cuff tear is repaired using suture anchors. These anchor sutures help in attaching the tendons to the shoulder bone. Following the surgery, you may be advised to practice motion and strengthening exercises.

Arthroscopy
In some cases, you may need surgery that includes arthroscopy and realignment. It’s important to talk to us about the reason for your hip pain so you can understand the treatment options available to you. Pain from arthritis and joint degeneration can be constant or come and go, occur with movement or after a period of rest, or be located in one spot or many parts of the body. It is common for patients to try medication and other conservative treatments to treat their hip pain. If you haven’t experienced adequate relief with those treatment options, you may be a candidate for Mako Total Hip replacement, which may provide you with relief from your hip pain.
Knee Replacement
I am very impressed with Cascade Orthopaedic Group. From the time I entered the office, the staff was so friendly! Dr. Dawson explained everything, regarding my impending total knee replacement. He listened to my concerns regarding possible post medication issues and tweaked them before surgery. Thankfully I had no issues with nausea or vomiting after surgery and during my healing process. And he even found time in his busy schedule to meet and explain my recoup needs with my coaches (aka my sister and cousin). I am healing beyond my expectations, and my PT's goals, for 8 1/2 weeks since surgery! I have already shared Dr. Dawson's name with a friend who's husband needs total knee replacement. If you have joint issues, this is the place to go! Thank you Dr. Dawson!! I'll see you when the next knee decides to go out on me:-)). For anyone going through these surgeries, stay positive!

Physical Therapy
