Identity Theft
The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is warning the public about fraudulent telephone calls from people claiming to be Social Security Administration representatives. The scammers claim that your Social Security number was used for improper or illegal activity and threaten to have you arrested unless you call a special phone number provided by the scammers where the scammers try to obtain your personal information for their own improper use such as identity theft.
