do not go there. Very disappointed and will not be back. I emailed a photo of a dress I needed taken in and was told ball park $12-$14 without looking at it so I was expecting it to be more once they saw it. So I go in and try it on, they are going to take in sides, arm and shoulders and she told me $20 which was fine, then she realized there was a pocket so said that would be $8 more to move the pocket - fine again. I get my ticket showing I would owe $30 which I thought was fair. Sharon calls me the day before I am to pick it up to say the shoulders were pinned and did they need taking up because they weren't on the ticket? I said yes, sides, sleeves, shoulders - not sure why they weren't on the ticket but they weren't. I go to pick it up the next day and it's $48. yes, $48. She did drop it to $45 but had I known I was going to go from $14 to $48 I would never have had the dress altered. I paid more for the alterations than the dress. incredibly disappointed, did not get an explanation, barely got eye contact and acknowledgement and I am not normally a complainer - I don't know that I have ever done this but this required some complaints so other people don't get surprised like I did.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE FOR ALTERATIONS. My dress has been here for 5 months and I finally had to walk out with it in pieces. Every time I had an appointment, my dress was never ready. Sharon always had it on the machine and asked if I could wait or come back. Rarely did I receive a phone to ask for more time. You could tell by the mistakes in the dress that she was rushing to get the work done instead of taking her time to get it right, even though I mentioned every time I was in there to take her time. The last two times I was in there, she actually had someone else, we had never seen there before to help her. I simply wanted the train taken off, the dress hemmed, and the hips taken in. It is a disaster. AND SHE MADE US PAY FOR IT. We negotiated a lower price, but we should have never paid for her mistakes. We all left in tears. And she was angry at us!!!



I took my dress to another alterations place the next day to see if it could be salvaged or if I had to find another dress. This place said it could be salvaged but was really shocked at the work that had or HAD NOT been done. They also talked about how filthy the dress was and that we would have to get it cleaned before the wedding. Of course the dress was clean when we took it there. It was brand new. This alterations place also said mine was the third dress brought here from Unique Tailors.

Finally a real tailor in Raleigh!! I come from a line of tailors and when I need some tailoring done I am usually disappointed. Perhaps my expectations are too high?! I purchased a wedding dress. It was a 2x. I needed it to be a size 4. I did my research online, read good reviews about Unique Tailor and decided to give them a try. They did NOT disappoint me. I could immediately tell she knew what she was doing the way she started pinning me. Sharon cut the dress down to my size and in a very timely fashion. She had less than a week to accomplish this. Sharon was friendly, professional and did an excellent job. The dress fit great!!! and I was a beautiful bride. I asked her about replacing a zipper in a cocktail dress that I have. I have been told by many tailor shops that I would have to bring my own zipper (now what is that about?) If I could purchase my own, I could probably install it!! Sharon at Unique Tailor told me not to worry, to bring the dress in and she would take care of the zipper. I consider this shop to be a true find. Unique Tailor is truly a tailor shop in every sense of the word. If you have had a bad alteration experience, and I have had plenty, you know what I am talking about They will be taking care of ALL of my tailoring needs from now on! Go Sharon!!

I had a very difficult project that involved creating an outfit from scratch for my infant son. There were a lot of difficult seams, and the details included snaps, zipper, straps, decorative ribbons, and velcro. Sharon listened and was very patient and her workmanship was truly exceptional. You can't get this level of assistance anywhere else! She produced a sturdy, beautiful outfit that is much better than the best store-bought product. I'm going to her with all of my future tailoring needs. She is truly gifted at her craft, her prices are reasonable, and her work is superb.

I came across Unique Tailor while looking at fabric at Printer's Alley and I must admit that it was a great discovery. Thus far, I've had three pairs of pants hemmed at Unique Tailor. The people are very professional and the service is great. My pants were finished on the day promised. I would certainly recommend using this tailor for your sewing needs. I am actually considering having my bride maids dresses made at Unique Tailor.
