Troutman's College-Manicuring

DO NOT GO! CHARMAINE the OWNER IS SMOKING CIGARETTES INSIDE!!!!!!! I scheduled an appointment for my daughter & I to have a nice day out together. My daughter was getting a manicure & myselft a pedicure. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean & sanitary the students were during the services. The student was very gentle & patient with my 3 year old and even brought out a sparkle polish for her. They were great. During the service I noticed a strong smell of smoke. At first I just figured it was from the door opening/closing and smoke was wafting inside. But the smell had become stronger & stronger and continued to for a few minutes. Now the smell of smoke was so strong it had started to give me a headache and made my stomach turn (and i grew up with both parents smoking) so I knew the smell. I had reached my limit when my 3 year old daughter commented on the 'Yucky' smell. I asked the student if someone was smoking inside the building and she shrugged and pointed towards the other room. I LOUDLY Commented to my 3yo on how RUDE it was for someone to SMOKE INSIDE. And then a few seconds later I heard a vent or fan turn on. I asked the student if that was the owner/teacher who was smoking and she shyly nodded and I asked if she does this often and rolled her eyes. She was very careful not to say too much but the point was made. After I picked my jaw off the floor in complete shock that the INSTRUCTOR/Owner of a Manicuring college was smoking INSIDE THE BUILDING while THREE YEAR OLD was present , I tried to keep a happy face for the sake of having a nice time with my daughter. After the services I went to tip the students and thanked them for being so great with my daughter. Charmaine had turned from her computer and said 'Hope you can come back soon!' And I just couldn't bite my tongue any longer. I told her that I was in shock that the owner of a Manicuring college with students using such sanitary practices would be smoking cigarettes indoors while clients were present, including a 3 year old! Her first reaction was to try to ignore me by turning back to the computer and hope I would leave. But I put my foot down & told her it was unacceptable to be smoking indoors in 2013 and how unprofessional it was to do so in front of clients, including a young child. She then had the nerve to deny it!!!! Saying she didn't smoke (your hoarse throaty voice can't lie, you smoke lady. ALOT!) and she didn't know anything about the smell. Now there were only 4 people in the college when I first came. The girl answering phones left during my services, so that only leaves 3 people, and the 2 students were with us the entire time, so that only leaves ONE PERSON. CHARMAINE! She tried to blame the smell on Dominos across the hall but I said; 'It doesn't smell like burning pizza, its smells like a burning cigarette!!!!! AND you have the audacity to light up with a young child in the building!!' She continued to deny it and acted shocked over the thought. So I asked 'Since you weren't smoking inside then wouldn't mind if i would just pop into your office to have a look around??? Surprise, surprise, She denied me access to the office. I told her repeatedly that smoking indoors was a MAJOR health code violation and I will be following up with a complaint, both online & to the board of health. She tried to BS the wrong person today! I am just shocked that a 'Manicuring College' 5 mins from the state board can be ran & operated by such a lowlife trashy person who smokes cigarettes indoors and then tries to deny it to the clients face! Listen Charmaine, you may get by lying to other folks daily, but I will not stand for it. If my daughter wasn't with me I would've got much more off my mind. Charmaine you are a SHAME to the ENTIRE Manicuring industry and shouldn't be teaching ANYONE how to handle a business when that is how you handles yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!
