Dental Examination
X-rays
This is a very common question. Our digital x-ray technology is state of the art and drastically minimizes patient exposure. Our office follows American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines for the frequency of administering radiographs and we only take x-rays when the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Oral Cancer Screening
At your first appointment, we take x-rays, check the health of your gums and review your medical history with you. Dr. D’Orazio will perform a free oral cancer screening and then make sure your mouth is healthy and free of dental disease.

Teeth Cleaning
We offer regular teeth cleanings to patients to ensure that all plaque buildup is taken care of before a cavity can occur. With our thorough approach, we’ll give you that extra cleaning you can’t easily reach with a regular toothbrush and floss. It’s recommended that patients see a dentist for routine cleaning and maintenance at least twice a year for optimal health.

Resin Composite
A tooth-colored filling is a composite resin made up of a combination of plastic, glass, and silica. The composite resins are mixed and hardened into place, making them look real and natural, just like the other teeth in your mouth. The high quality filling material we use is beautiful enough to be placed on a front (or anterior) teeth and strong enough to be placed on a back (or posterior) tooth.
Veneers
You shouldn’t have to live with misaligned, chipped, discolored, or stained teeth. Porcelain veneers are a great option for correcting these minor imperfections. As part of the procedure, a thin, porcelain covering will be applied overtop of your natural tooth structure, giving your entire smile a new look.

We offer a range of dental services to repair teeth and gums, including fillings/bonding, crowns, root canals, periodontal surgery, and oral surgery to help restore the appearance and functionality of your smile.
Deep Cleaning
Gum disease can be caused by a buildup of tartar and bacteria that can cause swelling and bleeding around the gums, making brushing and flossing a much bigger, and painful, task. Over time, this bacteria releases toxins which lead to loss of the bone that holds your teeth in place. Left untreated, this disease can lead to tooth loss. Our expertly trained dental hygienists are skilled in removing this build to prevent further progression of gum disease. Occasionally, a surgical intervention is needed after this deep cleaning is performed to recontour the bone or fix the gums. If this treatment is warranted, Dr. D’Orazio will review your options in detail with you.

Dentures
No, we secure your partial denture to surrounding teeth that are healthy and strong, eliminating the need for unsightly metal clasps.

Implants are the most life-like tooth replacement. Implants act and function as a natural tooth and unlike other alternatives, do not require compromising neighboring teeth.

Gum Surgery
Dr. D’Orazio (“Dr. D”) attended East Carolina University where she majored in Neuroscience and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. D then completed her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. Since she is a true ECU pirate at heart, she returned to ECU to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency where she graduated with distinction. This residency gave her extensive training in all aspects of dentistry, including extractions, dental implants, root canals, Invisalign, and gum surgery. She believes that lifetime learning is critical in the ever-changing dental profession and invests considerable time in continuing her skills and education. She is on track to become a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction only about 6% of dentists achieve. Dr. D is also a member of Spear Education, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and NC Dental Society.
Tooth Extractions
Oral surgery is typically a last resort for Dr. D’Orazio. However, there are certain conditions that demand surgical remedies, such as tooth extraction.

General Dentistry
Dr. Seth Rumley, originally from Washington, N.C., is a double Tarheel, from which he obtained both his bachelor’s and dental degrees. He lives close to the office with his wife, Parker, a Raleigh native, and their four children, Walker, Bryce, and twin girls, Stewart and Hanes. Dr. Rumley is a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church and often found volunteering in the nursery. He is a member and former board member of the Raleigh/Wake County Dental Society, North Carolina Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and is a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Rumley has been practicing dentistry in Raleigh for the past 14 years.
