Crestwood Apartments

So, I lived at this complex for two years. Our dishwasher was broken the entire time, and management was generally unpleasant. When eventually they did "fix" the dishwasher--no, they didn't actually fix it--they threw a part on the doorstep and never came back, even though my roommates and I told them multiple times that the dish washer was still broken. Cars regularly get broken into in the parking lot, and anyone who says this place is good is also probably on the payroll: as of summer 2018, management still pays people to give good reviews. If you value your standard of living at all...I wouldn't live here. Or if you value living at all. Multiple suicides and health-related deaths in the past year. Maybe this place is secretly cursed for bad business practices.

Absolutely do not live here!! When we moved in, all of us noticed the apartment looked nothing like the apartment they showed us. The paint was yellow and peeling off the walls, a things were held together by duct tape (the couch and microwave) and the cupboards were disgusting and peeling. There was a giant hole in the ceiling of our bathroom, which we later found out was due to a sewage leak from the apartment above, which the girls before us had to deal with. Gross!!



The entire year, any time we had maintenance requests, the office would not take care of it. I had to go down to the office every day for a few weeks and angrily confront them before they would do ANYTHING. When they did, they found the easiest, most temporary solution to the problem and I would have to deal with the problem again later, going through the same exact process. Our apartment was particularly bad. The power would go out about once every week or two. It got progressively worse the longer we lived there, to the point where it went out multiple times a day. Management did nothing to fix it. Because the after hours man was so unhelpful, we actually learned where the main breaker box was ourselves and flipped it every time the power went out.



We all loved living together, but we couldn't wait to move out. When we did, we did a thorough cleaning of the apartment, though one roommate did not show up to clean. My other roommate went in the day of cleaning checks and asked if we passed, and the manager said we all did except for the one roommate who did not clean. When I got my refund check, it said I failed the cleaning check and took out most of my deposit for it.

This place is a nightmare. The staff are less than worthless. I had black mold growing in my apartment and informed the staff about this as soon as I saw it. After 2 weeks of multiple phone calls and maintenance requests and nothing being done about the problem, I bought an at-home black mold testing kit from the Home Depot and confirmed that it was, in fact, black mold. I took the petri dish that was nearly overflowing with the mold sample into the front office to show them that it was a real problem. They then became angry that I took it upon myself to test for mold and told me they would get around to fixing the problem. I told them I was moving out because they were refusing to fix the problem and renter's law in Provo gave me the right to move out without consequences and they had to return my security deposit in full. A month after I moved out, I received a check for approximately four dollars. The staff took it upon themselves to charge me another months rent and took it from my security deposit even though they had no legal right to do so. I have tried to contact them multiple times and always am given the promise that "someone will get back to [me]" and they never do. Avoid this place at all costs.
