Dental Examination
The examination is a complete visual inspection of the oral cavity along with any necessary x-rays. Screening for oral cancer and periodontal disease is part of the exam. During this examination, we can also detect potential problems areas such as damaged fillings or small fractures that could lead to larger problems. We also take and review x-rays, again to detect any potential problems.

When too much of a tooth is decayed or broken away, it is best when restored with a crown. A crown is typically fabricated with porcelain (a tooth colored material) or gold. This process and procedure involves having a crown placed over the prepared damaged tooth resulting in a restored “tooth” and results in full function again. A stronger and more aesthetically pleasing look also are part of the benefit.

Root Canal Treatment
When the pulp that is inside the tooth becomes infected, it cannot repair itself. Years ago, extraction was the only option. Today, through endodontics, or root canal therapy these teeth can be saved. This procedure involves cleaning the inside of the tooth and then sealing it. If a tooth requires a root canal and is left untreated, the tooth could become infected and abscesses could form.
