If we find that your child – or you, for that matter – would benefit from seeing a specialist, we'll refer to a trusted colleague. Some children deal with dental appointments better at a pedodontist's office, that's what a children's dentist is called. We also refer patients who have extensive dental problems, like advanced periodontitis or problematic root canals, to specialist for optimal care. As a general dentist office, our preventive, restorative, prosthetic, and cosmetic dental services include treatments suitable for patients of all ages.

If Dr. Murray finds that you’re a good candidate for dental implants, he’ll work with a specialist for implant placement, and then he’ll attach your custom prosthetic in our Portsmouth dental office. Dental implant placement involves a brief surgery in which the artificial tooth root is placed into the jawbone. The jawbone naturally fuses to the implant post over a period of about three months. The number of dental implants you receive will depend on the number of missing teeth and your replacement option. DURAthin refers to a brand of porcelain veneers designed with the intention of keeping your natural smile intact. In general, patients who are good candidates for DURAthin veneers have small teeth, narrow smiles, or have had teeth extracted for orthodontics. In most cases, we recommend porcelain veneers, which require a small amount of tooth reduction, to provide the best result. Dr. Murray will carefully examine your smile, take photographs and X-rays, and thoroughly explain his recommendations.
Invisalign Orthodontics
First, Dr. Murray takes models and digital images of your teeth. Then he uses the Invisalign software to map out a plan for gradually straightening your dentition. He sends the custom plan to an Invisalign-certified laboratory where your clear aligners are created. About every two weeks, you’ll “graduate” to the next aligner in your series. Dr. Murray will monitor your progress to ensure optimal results.
Braces
Using Invisalign, Dr. Murray can correct a variety of dental problems, including overcrowding, awkward spacing, and bite misalignments. Children are not good candidates for Invisalign, because it takes self-discipline to continue wearing the aligners. Most adults (over the age of 16) are good candidates for treatment with Invisalign clear braces. After a consultation and examination, Dr. Murray will advise you of the appropriate action in your unique case.
