Halsey Automotive SERVICE has been in business for years with the same owner Wally Schmidt. They are honest people. I have been dealing with Wally for years. The only thing that has changed is the location. He bought a building and moved his business. Think twice about someone who has been in business for six months (Halsey Automotive REPAIR) and claims that someone else is an imposter. The Wise Men would tell you to think first. One of the best car repair experiences I've ever had! He does great work - the first time around! No scams to bring in return business, and no extraneous fees or charges. The customer service was great - they let me know when my car would be done, and it was done ahead of schedule! Great communication! Great customer service! This is a great Company. Wally Schmidt has owned Halsey Automotive Service since 1983. He lost his lease so he bought a building and moved. I have known Wally since he was a little boy working at the shop. He is honest and has great service. Keep up the good work.

I recently took my VW to Wally's it was a great experience! I feel like my car is brand new again. It runs so smooth! I recommend this place to anyone. Very affordable and trustworthy. I was able to get a great deal, much less than I was expecting. Thanks.

This is Halsey Automotive on 7721 NE Halsey St Portland,Or. We are a VW Audi repair facility we have been here since 1963 and as of this year Tom the manager took over ownership and the old owner went and opened another shop on 97th and sandy blvd and is sending flyers to all of our customers and is saying we moved but that is not true we are still here same crew and same customer service.

The same crew is at 7721 Ne Halsey St Portland, Or. Along with Tom and Debra and all the same mechanics.We are still here same location same number and same crew.

This is a new business that opened this year at a new location. The original Halsey Automotive on 7721 Ne Halsey St Portland Or 97213 Is still there and the original crew is still there as well.

When we bought our 1979 VW transporter it had been sitting for 3 years. Tom at Halsey completely rebuilt the engine and transmission for much less than others were quoting. We haven't had any problems since. Tom even gave us his phone number so we could call and ask questions on the road! 12,000 miles later we took her back for a check up and got out of there with all the maintenance we needed for $72!! On our way to another care-free 12,000. Tom and Debbie are both so kind and friendly. We stay in contact with them on the road and send them Christmas cards. How many mechanics can you say that about!! Take your VW here and she'll be in good hands.

I have been a customer of Halsey Automotive for over twenty yearsthe current owner head mechanic worked in the shop as teenager when I first brought car there.I have taken my VW autos from a 1963 beetle to a 2000 VW Jetta there and have always received excellent service. The Head mechanic Tom has always treated me fair and went out of his way to find the best parts at lower cost. I have never been told that I needed work that I didn't really need. Tom and company really now there VWs!

Last time I took my car to Halsey, they quoted me $900 to fix it. I asked them for an honest opinon about the general condition of the car and if they saw the need for any potential future repairs. Part of the inspection included looking at the brakes, which they told me looked great.Two months later the brakes were squeaking and I took it back to them. They told me that my rear brakes were shot and I would need to replace everything; that it would cost $500. I reminded them of my previous visit, in which they did a brake inspection and told me they looked good...that they had 90% left. They looked at the quote on which this was written. Even though they saw what they had written on the paper, they gave me the run around and told me that it was actually a problem with the brake cable, and that I must have driven a long distance with the emergency brake on, which I didn't.I feel that they acted with a complete lack of integrity, and of course there is nothing I can do about it.
