        Captain Ted's Tackle has been owned and operated by Jeff Kincaid since August 2003. There was a real Captain Ted ( Ted Locker ). But at that time, the store was only open on Mondays, and sold clearance-type items.Jeff has expanded the retail hours and has greatly increased the scope of available products and services. Captain Ted s Tackle is truly a one stop location for all anglers. You will find rods, reels, lures, line, hooks, charts, knives, wading shoes, nets and accessories including hats, sunglasses and gift items, and plenty of advice Captain Ted'sThe right information is a bonus gift you will always receive at Captain Ted's Tackle. Kincaid especially enjoys sharing his hands-on knowledge with beginners to the sport of salt water fishing. For the mid-range experienced week-end fisherman Captain Ted's is recognized as first stop to find out which fish are biting on what and where.Professional anglers and boat guides appreciate Captain Ted's Tackle selection of quality items. Items that are hard to find at department stores. As Jeff says "If you are looking to buy something you could pick up in a discount store, go to the discount store. I want to give people value for their dollar, and I want the fishing experience to be enjoyable."Jeff has been fishing Gulf Coast waters almost his whole life. Jeff's family moved him from Boone County, Ind. to Charlotte County when he was four years old. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1982."My grandmother taught me how to fish", he says. He keeps a memento on the wall of his shop in her honor. "She always had one of these ( a plastic reel/line contraption ) in the glove compartment of any car she drove", Kincaid explained.

        I went with my son to get a rod and a pole. We had the greatest experience. Jeff was super helpful and taught us a lot. He took all the time in the world to answer questions and help us get the right equipment and learn to use it. The price wa incredibly affordable. I had to go back the next day because my son had an "accident" and he replaced the pole at no cost. He is a sweetheart and really knows and enjoys his business. You also have to meet Jack, his Boston Terrier who is always in the store and enjoys a little attention.

        Captain Ted's Tackle in Port Charlotte is where I go when I need any fishing equipment. He always knows you the minute you walk through the front door. Great service and good fishing stories. A + for sure. Thank you Jeff

        Jeff & Jax are an awesome pair.....I can walk in the shop, tense from the stressors in the world....sit down next to Jax and after a few minutes of "Dog Therapy" I'm ready to shop from a large selection (very complete) of fishing supplies, and get the latest fishing report. Jeff is always willing to give you the "short to the point" or "long version", whichever you prefer. I think he enjoys teaching almost as much as fishing....or catching. If he doesn't have something in stock he will get it for you quickly. He doesn't hesitate to tell you if you don't need something. Plus just a few steps away is the parts counter for Ingman Marine.

        A+++++, I can't say enough about Captain Ted's Tackle. The owner Jeff is a lifelong local. He has an incredible knowledge of fishing in South West Florida. My husband and I moved in to the area recently, use to freshwater fishing in TN. Jeff has helped us so much. He stocks the tackle that works in the local area. He helps us know where the hot spots are, and what to fish with. He's help us with knot tying, strategies . . . We both feel he really wants us to catch fish. A bonus, his shop dog Jax is a cutie, so friendly!!! If your looking for a great local tackle store in Port Charlotte, look no further! Alice K.
