Dental Examination
Your first visit to High Peaks Dental will include a thorough dental exam – including X-rays and education on home care – by the dentist, in order to make an initial assessment. A preventive plan will be put into action and you will come back for regular checkups.

The lips, tongue, throat, neck, and gums are examined for any possible signs of oral cancer.

Teeth Cleaning
Gingivitis is the beginning stage of periodontal disease. Bleeding when brushing is a sign of this, as are inflammation and tenderness. A small probe will be entered between the tooth and gums to measure the depth of any pockets that may be present. We provide periodontal probing at your regular dental cleaning appointments.

Fillings
Back in the day, silver or gold fillings were used. Now we know that composite, made of quartz resin, offers a white, natural-looking option.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a beautiful option for creating the smile you’ve always wanted. Natural teeth can have spaces and be stained, crooked, deformed, or chipped. These are just a few reasons why veneers are recommended. Veneers consist of very thin sheets of porcelain that are attached to the front of the teeth, improving shape, size, and color.
Crowns
There are times when your dentist will recommend crowns. A crown, or a cap, is a porcelain covering that is placed over the tooth surface to restore strength and appearance. Crowns improve the appearance and structure of the tooth. Crowns are needed for fixing fractures, lending support to bridges, and when a filling is not enough to give a tooth proper structure.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal may be needed to relieve severe pain or sensitivity being caused due to intense decay that has reached down into the root. Many times an infection is present. The affected tissue needs to be removed. The nerve canal will be reshaped and filled with a special material and finally sealed to help prevent future infection. A tooth with a root canal requires a protective crown after the core has been exposed.

Periodontal Surgery
With the gum tissue completely numb, the treatment is essentially pain-free – as is the recovery period. Traditional periodontal surgery with scalpels and sutures can often lead to a recovery period that can be quite uncomfortable. In addition, 98% of laser-treated patients have no further disease progression after five years. It's estimated only 5% reportedly have no further disease progression after traditional gum surgery.
Deep Cleaning
Gingivitis and periodontal disease must be treated to prevent further destruction of teeth, gums, and bone, and to stop tooth loss. Depending on the extent of the disease, a deep cleaning and scaling will be suggested and will typically be done with a local numbing agent.

Dentures
Dentures are a removable option to replace missing teeth. They can be full appliances or partials. Natural existing teeth may need to be prepared for dentures to fit properly. Teeth may have to be removed and given a chance to heal before new dentures are placed. Immediate dentures are available before a complete set is made after the healing phase. They are prepared in advance and immediately put in once the teeth are removed. However, adjustments for comfort and fit may need to be made once healing takes place. This may require several appointments. After a proper fit has been achieved, dentures may take some getting used to. Over time, a patient’s smile is enhanced with easy-to-care-for dentures.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are used to replace teeth that have been lost. Through a surgical procedure, these artificial roots and teeth are placed directly into the bone. Implants replace teeth. They also relieve pain, restore chewing ability, and improve facial tissues in the process.

We will take safe digital X-rays, pictures, and impressions of your teeth. Invisalign® will use these to create a digital 3-D image. From these images, we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth.
Braces
High Peaks Dental has been providing orthodontic services for years. We are certified in the Invisalign® technique, a straightening method that doesn't use braces. It uses a series of hard, plastic, computer-designed, mouth guard-like trays, Each tray results in an incremental movement toward the desired results.

Teeth Whitening
Over time normal wear along with, abuse such as smoking, consumption of coffee and other dark beverages, cause teeth to lose their luster and begin to appear yellowed or stained. Whitening is an inexpensive and safe option to bring back their brightness. Whitening has become a very popular procedure for enhancing smiles since patients can expect their teeth to look about two shades whiter than what they started with. Home whitening kits are typically the preferred way of whitening. With our custom whitening trays the achieving the brightness you would like is the responsibility of the patient. Impressions are made of teeth so that the trays are custom fit for the patient. The whitening solution will be put into these trays and worn for specific periods of time depending on the strength of the whitening solution. Do you have sensitive teeth? Whitening is still an option. Our whitening trays can be worn for different lengths of time based on the percentages offered. Wearing the trays periodically usually requires maintenance once the desired level of whitening is achieved. In-house whitening is also available known as KoR. With KoR we use at home custom trays with a solutions as well as an in office visit. The in office visit does not need to be done with the at home kit however, it does ad a level of brightness you would not receive doing just the at home kit. The in office visit is also ideal for a big event, party, wedding, or when ever you want to look your best with short notice!

Dr. Caldon’s military career took him to Michigan; Southern Italy; San Antonio, Texas; England; Plattsburgh; and New Jersey. He passed the demanding Federal Services Board of General Dentistry and is recognized as a specialist in general dentistry. Dr. Caldon was named as an Air Force examiner for the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry for a 3-year term.
