Overall
fantastic place

i remember first going there i had been to other salons where they hurt my hair when they braided it. they didn't wash my hair right and its wasn't very friendly. my mother found this place and it was soo comforting and relaxing. i could talk to her about anything and my hair was always on point with different and creative ideas. i tell my friends and family, they always comment on how healthy and shiny my hair looks and when its done i always get comments on it when ever i go out. i also know this is a place where you have a woman that cares for you. i've gotten a card on my birthday, and when my mother died she was there to talk to i always go here for my hair care need because i know i'll be taken care of efficiently and professionally.

Overall
First impression is everything...

First impression is everything and the salon was cluttered. I tried this salon because it was close to home and the website showed some of Stephanie's qualifications and awards. I had an appointment but had to wait about an hour before I got in the chair because she was doing a sew-in.

My haircut was uneven and it looked like I had a tail on the left side of my head because a chunk of my hair was left very long. I didn't sit under the dryer so she blew my hair dry and then flat ironed it. I could tell by the way my hair was snagging that the flat iron was of poor quality. I didn't like my hair at all and didn't bother to say anything because I knew I would not return. I had to go home and fix it and I kept my tail until I found another stylist.

While I was in the shop another client came but wasn't sure how she wanted her hair. The client was advised to look in the hair magazines to find a style she wanted. Stephanie would not suggest anything and kept telling the client, well you know what you want so find something in the book that's similar. To me that was shocking considering that hairstyling is her profession.

Although I hated my hair I referred a friend of mine with shorter hair. I warned her of my dislikes and she decided to try her out anyways. My friend didn't like her hair either and said that she didn't do anything she asked for. In Stephanie's defense, she does do weaves and braids. I haven't seen anyone get the braids, but her sew-in was on point. I guess if I wanted a head full of weave I would go back.

My suggestions would be to declutter the shop, try to advise clients unsure about their hair, and space out appointments so that clients are not wasting time. I would suggest getting a better blow dryer or flat iron that smooths the hair shaft. It may even be better to use Marcel irons and an oven.
