Interplay Child Care Center

I have had my daughter at Interplay for 3 years, it has been a rocky road, but the price and proximity to our house kept us there. In that time, we have seen 4 executive directors, 2 interim directors and a host of staff changes. The current director is by far the worst and the atmosphere has changed from simply unprofessional to downright toxic. She appears to be purging the center of any staff members who disagree with her and is replacing them with the worst “teachers” I have ever seen. My daughter began coming home with signs of emotional trauma as a result of one of these staff changes, and I noticed one of the teachers in her room being inappropriately belligerent with the children. When I witnessed her humiliate and degrade a special needs child in front of the rest of the class I decided that I needed to report her behavior and my child’s emotional distress to the director and ask for an intervention. That was, apparently, an enormous mistake. She assured me that she would take this seriously and get back to me on a number of points and then proceeded to completely ignore me for 3 weeks. When I tried to hold her accountable for this, she launched into a tirade, insulting me and my child and refused to acknowledge any of the issues at hand, saying she had decided there wasn’t a problem and was basically not accountable to anyone. Meanwhile, I had spoken to other parents who had been witnessing the same changes in their children’s behavior and had also witnessed this teacher being inappropriate. Our fight continued until she kicked us out of the daycare for bringing my child in for half days because we were afraid she was being abused and later admitted (in writing) that it was because I criticized her. I found out after the fact that we were not the first family she has done this to. My heart is breaking for the kids still stuck in that room. My child is now happy in her new center and I can’t believe we put up with as much as we did in this place.

We are very happy with Interplay. Our daughter has grown her way up from the infant to the toddler room. We have another baby on the way and we are sticking with Interplay. The teachers in each room were very kind, patient, affective. Our daughter has learned valuable social and educational skills and she has also been able to express her creativity and her personality. She enjoys going everyday and she has plenty of wonderful stories to tell when she returns. The facility has gone through a location change which was a bit of a tough transition. But, the director and the core teachers have worked together for a great recovery. The facility is a great place for any child, from infancy to preschool.
