On January 5, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced its unexpected proposed rule change that would essentially ban noncompete agreements and require employers to rescind existing noncompete agreements. While the original public comment section was set to end on March 20, 2023, on March 6, the FTC voted 4-0 to extend the comment period until April 19, 2023.
