We have used Gracies for annual family camp out for last three years as they were very pleasant and helpful but will never again!! They have become rude and made you feel as wellcome as a cockroach is! We had 30 people camping (half of them kids) from KC and Lake of the Ozark and our family from Arkansas there and was planning on having good time and was going to float using Gracies canoes but after being treated rudely we waded across to to Kosey Kamp and rented their kayaks they were happy to help us out and the atmosphere was great there!! We will definitely go camp there and give Gracies what they informed us they wanted from moment we got there - an empty campground and that there were 19 other campgrounds along river he just soon not have anyone there! I hope your wish comes true and nobody ever goes there again!!!

We have camped for many years along the rivers down in this direction, Gracie's is by far the best. Their camp sites are almost all grass, they have awesome cabins, volley ball, horse shoes, sometimes a DJ on the weekends, their prices are better than any other place in town and the staff are by far the best! We will never camp anywhere but here. I wish I could talk to you in person and give you all our experiences, I took a while to write a review because this past weekend they were exceptional and I realized people need reviews to help them understand better about how amazing places are! You would be crazy to stay somewhere else! I read the other reviews and I truly think if you haven't stayed somewhere more than once you shouldn't voice your opinion because not every moment in everybody's lives are perfect. You may have hit a bad day, my thoughts are give it one more try!!

Never again. We floated the da...

Never again. We floated the day after a storm. It was myself, husband and six year old son. I was a loyal customer and loved this campground, but we will never go back. The river was not yet rising, but the current was swift. We called that morning and was assured by a worker everything was fine. We put in and not even a minute into the float two rafts cut in front of us. We were trying to paddle around them when they hit a branch sticking out of the water. This was right in front of Gracie's and nobody warned us. When they hit we attempted to paddle around. We would have made it but someone on the raft grabbed our canoe and we hit the branch. It literally snapped our canoe in half. I was in the front so when I was thrown out of the canoe I rolled under it and was being carried downriver with the current. I could not swim out of it so I grabbed onto a tree that was down in the river. My husband was able to touch and somehow fought the current to get back tou our son who was trapped in the canoe that was still stuck on the branch. It was at an angle so his head was covered with water. My husband got him lose after a fight because his legs were being smashed. He took him to shore then came back out and I had to jump and grab his hand. We lost everything including shoes. We needed help and not a single person came to get us. My husband had to run barefoot on the rocks and ask for someone to come get us. My sons legs were indented from the bar on the canoe and he was screaming in pain. We sat there for 20 minutes when they seen it all happen and could see us sitting on the rocks. After we got help they were great and assisted in getting our keys that were still trapped in the canoe. When I called later that day and asked if we can get a forty dollar credit since we didn't get to float the worker said yes. About an hour later she called back and the owner said no credit will be given, and that their canoe was destroyed. For one, if their equipment cannot withstand the elements they should never allow it in the water and secondly they should not have allowed anyone to float because within an hour the river was rising fast. My sons legs are bruised, but he is ok. Please go to another campground. This owner is careless and money hungry.

The only reason Im giving Gracies a four star is because it was awesome for me last year. All my friends love the camp and all the employees. I would definitely recommend this camp ground if you love to party hardy. Also we like to yell at Kozy Camp because they have a lame curfew and strict rules, but they are the family camp unlike Gracies, which is the party camp. Had lots of fun and like I said if you like to party and have a good time, Gracies would be my choice of camp sites.... Oh and watch your stuff cause sometimes drunk ppl think it is theirs.

Livin' It Up as a River Rat

I am a local and have camped all up and down the Elk River. This was the best camping spot in the whole entire area, and i mean no other matches up to the friendly (and hot) helpers, along with the access to real bathrooms with showers and everything. This place is even equipt for those of you who do not want to 'rough it' they have the cutest wood cabins, with air conditioning and all the perks. YOU HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT!!

Horrible

We had an absolutley horrible time memorial day at Gracies Camp. The first staff member I spoke with was very rude and told me that I was asking stupid questions, when I simply asked how much a camp site was. On Friday night, it was complete chaos. The staff allowed problay twice the people into the campgrounds as they had room for. There were sooo many fights all around us on Friday. At one point we had 3 fights going on at once, one of each side of us. There were cops speeding through most of the campsite but they still couldnt keep control. In addition to the fighting, at the camp right next to us, her car got stolen. It was just madness. Saturday two of our coolers were stolen when we walked away just for a little while. I just mentioned to the owner about our coolers (and was very nice, even explaining that I am not just trying to be rude but just wanted him to know what kind of experience I was having) and his response was, "what do you expect, it is a holiday weekend". He also said he heard me talking, saying that we should have gone to Kozy Kamp and he was very upset with me about that, which was a complete lie. I never said anything of the sort. To you sir, I expect some respect when I am paying alot of money to you and I expect the army of 100 gaurds that you have working for you to do something when there is chaos. I also expect for you to know how many people can fit into your campsite and not double that number just to make some extra money. The whole camping experience was horrible and I will never go to Gracies campsite again. I would suggest Creekside camping and canoeing or even Kozy Kamp which is right across the river. Even though Kozy Kamp is a party atmosphere, atleast they can keep control of their business.
