A patient of Dr. Hardwood, a well respected Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) New Brunswick, Mr. A.S. presented a history of rheumatoid arthritis, Diabetes Mellitus II, Renal Disease which requires him to undergo renal dialysis on a weekly basis and degenerative joint disease.
Medical Weight Loss
Ms. Valentin, who has multiple sclerosis, was admitted to Alameda Center with pneumonia, abnormal weight loss and a peg tube. Our dysphagia specialists worked with her to improve her oral food intake, allowing her to return to a full oral diet that meets all her nutritional and hydrations needs. Initially she required maximal assistance with all activities. Thanks to our physical and occupational therapists, Ms. Valentin made substantial progress in achieving a level of independence and was discharged to our restorative nursing program.

Electrocardiogram
Dedicated telemedicine hospitalists are acute care experts, available when in-house providers are not present. Through technology, they work directly with our staff members who know, and can evaluate acute changes in patients and residents. Telemedicine providers respond in minutes, at bedside, for any patient or resident requiring medical attention. Through telemedicine carts and two-way HD video, they help guide our staff through an exam. Telemedicine physicians can order any tests that our facility has the capability to perform. Basic telemedicine devices are equipped with a 12 lead EKG, a virtual stethoscope, high definition camera, and other diagnostic tools to perform an evaluation. They are also able to access and document in our electronic medical record.

In practice for over 25 years, Dr. Sahgal specializes in Cardiology, Diagnostic Radiology, and Internal Medicine. He has been Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Raritan Bay Medical Center and currently serves as the Chairman at Raritan Bay’s Medical Center Department of Medicine. Kevin Herman and Haresh Kane who round weekly, our wound care team – comprised of certified wound nurses and advance practice nurses – utilizes innovative treatment and the latest technology to achieve outstanding therapeutic results.
Joint Replacement
Following knee joint replacement at Clara Maass Medical Center, 68-year old Yogesh Shah chose to recover at Alameda Center. When he first arrived, he had limited range of motion, was in terrible pain, and required assistance with all activities of daily living. Our caregiving team helped get his pain under control, and our physical and occupational therapists worked on strengthening his muscles and optimizing his physical function.
Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Surender Grover is an orthopedic surgeon in practice for more than 51 years. He has offices in South Amboy and Edison New Jersey and is affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health at Raritan Bay Medical Center. Currently serving as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at RBMC, he received his orthopedic surgical training at UMDNJ and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Hip Replacement
Mr. A.S. is a 78 year old Hispanic male patient who was admitted to Alameda Center in January 2017 for rehabilitation after total hip replacement surgery.
Knee Replacement
Our specialized Orthopedic Rehab Program, under the direction of Dr. Surender Grover, is dedicated to restoring physical function to individuals recovering from an injury, hip or knee replacement, trauma, or surgery. At Alameda Center, we deliver a hands-on approach that starts with an initial evaluation and extends through post-discharge care. We aim to get you back home as quickly as possible!

Physical Therapy
I came to Alameda Center from Trinitas Hospital Care One as a dialysis patient. The excellent physical therapy team and nursing staff helped me get back on my feet and able to walk out that front door and safely return home to my family. By the end of my stay I was walking again and up to climbing 100 steps a day – that is way more than I ever expected! I far surpassed my goals and definitely couldn’t do it without them. I can’t thank them enough for helping me get back home to Connecticut. Zoraida in housekeeping is truly an angel. She went above and beyond just keeping the room nice and clean every day. But she helped me if I needed anything no matter what it was. I also want to say that Gladys made everything run so smooth. She is the sweetest most knowledgeable person and if there was anything I needed she didn’t stop till I got it. She made a very stressful situation as pleasant as possible. I just want to thank all the staff for getting me back to my family.
Occupational Therapy
94-year old Pedro came to Alameda Center following heart surgery at Raritan Bay Medical Center. Upon his arrival he needed assistance with just about everything – from transfers to dressing. Over a period of two weeks participating in daily physical and occupational therapy sessions, Pedro saw significant improvement in his ability to walk and conduct functional tasks. He no longer requires a wheelchair, can navigate stairs with supervision, and is excited to return home!
