- *PLAY IS EVERYTHING* We believe that kids need an open environment in which to grow and learn, a place to get their hands dirty with the freedom to do so, while receiving the guidance they need to master social interactions. The best way children learn is through play. Our teachers and working parents consider their most important role to be the facilitation of exploration and child-directed play. The children determine what they want to do and how they want to do it. At Cottage Co-op we teach children that their ideas and interests are worth pursuing. We foster creativity, expression, ingenuity, and love of learning through a curriculum that evolves from a child’s interests and expands upon his or her exploration. *THE COTTAGE COMMUNITY* Each family is an active participant in our school. Besides working within our children's classrooms, each Cottage family plays a role in supporting our school. These jobs include everything from positions on the Board to doing the laundry to planning social events to maintaining the facility. We like to utilize each family's talents and interests in the selection of their roles. We also see ourselves as a true community of families. Our very nature as a "co-op" means that we believe that our families should play an integral role both in their children's education and in the school as a whole.

You can’t write a review about a pre-school without talking about the teachers. The small group of amazing professionals here at Cottage are the heart and soul of the school. They come from different parts of the world, some even attending Cottage when they were a child and combine to be an incredible team that continues to inspire the entire community every day.
My family and I are proud that our family has been a part of the Cottage family for 18 months now. We wanted a school where learning to navigate social situations and solve problems/conflicts together was the main focus, not academics, there is plenty of time for that later in life. Cottage Co-Op not only was the right classroom environment for our child, but an amazing community as well. Between the pot-lucks that give you time to talk with parents going through similar challenges to the focus on learning and growing as parents, together in a supportive atmosphere, being a part of this community has changed our lives for the better in everyway. The Co-Op is not easy, there is classroom time, fix-its and family jobs, but putting in the effort only adds to the overall community.
We really appreciate the involvement and participation of the families in the Co-op. Working for the benefit of the school (as opposed to just paying a tuition and dropping of your child) really connects the parents. Anytime there is a conflict for one family, the other families jump in and help out. Being a part of Cottage allows us to truly "walk the walk" of helping others that we all teach our kids, and they see it right in the classroom. During Winter Break, our class got together for park play dates and to catch up with each other.
All of the activities we know our kids need to do, but are so messy or dirty... they get to do them at Cottage. Painting, playing in the sand, mud, play dough, splashing in puddles, you name it. We believe a messy kid is a happy kid and Cottage kids are happy.

My son attended Cottage for 3 years and my youngest will enter in the Fall. We couldn't have been happier about their philosophy, curriculum, teaching style, commitment to helping children gain social skills and resolve conflicts with each other during every developmental stage. Cottage has a very low adult to child ratio. One of very few schools who begin with a 2year old program, this is a school which relies and requires participation of parents with the guidance of the director and teachers.
