Dental Examination
A comprehensive exam lays the foundation for excellent dental care. Here you will experience the easy, gentle way to painless dental health. We recommend a "comprehensive dental exam" for all patients that are new to a practice and for "established" patients, those who are already in the practice, every three years.
Oral Cancer Screening
All areas of your mouth will be examined. We will start by taking a full mouth series of x-rays using state of the art digital radiographs. The examination process will include a detailed examination of your teeth, your smile, supporting structure alignment, your bite, the health of your gums and a thorough oral cancer screening. Study models and photographs may also be taken to assure the best care. We will evaluate any dental problems and go over all the options, so you can make the best decision to a healthier dentition.

Dental Sealants
The term "dental sealant" or " tooth sealant " refers to a coating which a dentist bonds into the grooves of the chewing surface of a tooth as a means of helping to prevent the formation of tooth decay ("cavities").

Fillings
Resin Composite
Even though "silver fillings" are economical, very strong, and have lasted for many years on the back teeth, you may have a cosmetic alternative to those "silver filling" that show when you smile. A conservative alternative is a composite resin "white filling" that are now being used to restore the smaller cavities. A natural, tooth colored material is used, where many times you can not tell you have had a filling done. A special light is used to harden the material so you may begin chewing immediately after the treatment is completed. Usually this restoration can be completed in one visit.
Veneers
Re-contouring is not a substitute for veneers or bonding, however it can be used solely or in combination with these procedures to improve on what the aging process has done to our smiles.
Crowns
As the name of this appliance implies, the bridge is made out of three pieces that fit into the open space in the mouth, "bridging" the gap. Most bridges are made of a pontic tooth (or false tooth), held together by two crowns (a "cap" that covers the tooth, approximating its normal size and shape). This trio is then attached (cemented) to the abutment teeth (the surrounding teeth of each side of the gap).
Bridges
A dental bridge is an appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. These appliances are cemented into place and cannot be removed by the patient.

Root Canal Treatment
Endodontics, commonly known as Root Canal Treatment has been very successful for saving severely damaged teeth. Gone are the days that you get a tooth pulled every time you have a toothache or a broken tooth.

Periodontal Surgery
More advanced progression of the disease may require root planing, currettage and sometimes periodontal surgery. But do not wait until it gets to these advanced stages. Remember our goal is for you to keep your teeth for a life time!
Deep Cleaning
When gum is inflamed, gum pockets become deeper, and they lose bone connections inside. The deeper pockets are, the easier it is for them to trap plaque deposits and make gum worse. The perio pockets really need to be cleaned up in order to stop further inflammation. Root planning means to insert the pointy front of the handle scalers into below the gum pockets to clean buildup.

Dentures
If you're missing one tooth or all of your teeth, implants may well be for you. So long as you have enough bone in the area of the missing tooth to facilitate the anchorage of the implants, this procedure can yield terrific results. If you don't have enough bone for this purpose, a bone graft may be necessary. If you have a small dental bridge or partial dentures (removable type), implants will be a welcome alternative. Implants are an alternative to a fixed bridge. The implant will last a lifetime, but the crown on top of it will last ten to fifteen years.

Dental Implants
The success rate for implants depends on the tooth's purpose and location in the mouth. The success rate is about 95 percent for those placed in the front of the lower jaw and 85 percent for those placed in the sides and rear of the upper jaw.

Oral surgery involves the removal of severely diseased or severely damaged teeth. Even number one goal is to save your teeth for many years. There are occasions that a tooth or teeth have been damaged severely and must be removed. If this is the case, Dr. Martinez strives to make this procedure as pleasant as possible.
Tooth Extractions

Orthodontics
In recent years bonding has developed into an exciting way of restoring teeth that have chipped, are stained, or have old stained fillings. It has also been used as a highly effective treatment for closing gaps in between the teeth. Bonding is a composite resin material that is molded onto the teeth. The surfaces of the teeth are prepared by a solution to create a stronger adhesion to the teeth. Bonding can be cosmetically appealing and a cost effective alternative to other treatments. Sometimes it can provide a healthy alternative to other more complicated procedures because they allow preservation of more natural tooth structure. Other ways that bonding can be effective is by splinting periodontal loose teeth, or as a cosmetic temporary solution while orthodontics are being done or if you are waiting for other treatment. You can still look great while awaiting other treatment! Bonding is usually finished in one appointment!

Teeth Whitening
In addition to Dr Martinez´s successful technique, Dr. Martinez is excited to recently obtain the bleaching system used on the "Extreme Make-Over Show," The Zoom 2. The new Zoom 2 has many advantages over the original Zoom whitening system originally used by Dr. Bill Dorfman (see picture) on "Extreme Make-Over". Both techniques have their advantages and disadvantages.

After graduation, Dr. Tsao pursued additional training by completing a residency program in general dentistry at the VA hospital in Long Beach, where he treated our country’s veterans. Dr. Tsao then began his career as an associate dentist at several practices in Los Angeles County and Orange County. When his fiancée finished her training as an ophthalmologist and found a position in Oakland, CA, Dr. Tsao relocated to Northern California and happily married the love of his love.
