Founded in 1974, Girls Inc of Bay County is a nonprofit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold. It has been recognized for its career awareness and sports unlimited programs by the national organization. Girls Inc of Bay County has also received a national expansion award for its initiative with Rutherford High School. Maintaining a location in Panama City, Fla., the organization is a part of Girls Incorporated, which is nationally recognized as one of the premier female youth service organizations in the United States. Founded in 1864, Girls Incorporated, previously known as Girls Clubs of America serves more than 1 million girls between the ages of 6 and 18. Headquartered in New York City, its programs include Girls Incorporated Operation SMART, Girls Incorporated Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy, Girls Incorporated Media Literacy, Girls Incorporated Project Bold and Girls Incorporated Friendly PEERsuasion.
