Emergency Care
Cardiologists are "on call" outside of regular office hours for emergencies. It is not possible for a cardiologist to make medical decisions without a physical examination and your medical record. All care and instructions of your cardiologist must be recorded in your medical record. Accordingly, a cardiologist will not make treatment decisions without your medical record or based upon an undocumented telephone conversation. If you have an emergency, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Amarillo Heart Group is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Electrocardiogram
The EKG provides your doctor with information about your heart rate, rhythm and possible areas of damage. This test takes only a few minutes.

Amarillo Heart Group is a significant medical resource for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. As the health care needs of the Panhandle have grown, the number of cardiologists at the clinic has been increased to include cardiologists who specialize in treating many different cardiovascular conditions. There are cardiologists available in several areas of specialty at Amarillo Heart Group. They have specialized training and experience in critical care of heart patients, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, electrophysiology, stress testing, echocardiography and many other tests and procedures related to the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Cardiologists specialized training includes four years of medical school, three or more years of residency in internal medicine, and two or more years of specialized training in cardiology.
Ultrasound technology is used to project moving pictures of the chambers of the heart. A probe is held against the chest and the pictures, visible on a screen, enable measurement of the size and thickness of the heart's chambers and functioning of the heart valves. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
Nuclear Medicine
To accomplish these goals the doctors decided to incorporate a non invasive laboratory within the clinic. In September of 1993, the lab became a reality and offers a wide range of diagnostic studies. Patients can now come to the office for most of their testing to avoid the paperwork and congestion associated with area hospitals where testing was previously conducted. In addition to this ease of access to care, the patients have become more educated about their course of care and have shown great trust in our cardiologists. We now have cardiologists that specialize in most areas, including critical care, cardiac catheterization, interventional procedures, electrophysiology, ablations, pacing, nuclear medicine, echocardiography, and more. As Amarillo Heart Group has grown, so has the staff of specialized cardiologists.
