Is Nurse Bette still there? I had ended up getting off my anxiety medication and I have PTSD years ago and trying to handle it on my own. I have now lost a child, going through a divorce after 14yrs and really feel comfortable talking to nurse Betty. Because of her I want to work in Mental Health and just completed my second year of school at seminole state college. If anyone knows if she still works there, please respond to this message and let me know. I get too axious to even call and ask.

The rudest receptionists and nurses you'll ever find. I had the EXACT experience as MB (check other reviews) with the receptionist/nurse. It's unreal how similarly we were treated!

She cared more about "trying to control" me by talking down to me, disrespecting me on every level, and power-tripping by withholding my scripts instead of simply diffusing a potential situation which it did become. She instigated an incident and then refused me aervice; which by that time I had decided I wasn't giving them another penny for any reason anyway.

She just would not answer my question and kept telling me to lower my voice even though I wasn't loud, I was stern with my tone of voice but not loud at all.

It's supposed to be a mental health facility where nurses and receptionists are compassionate and understanding, but they're far from it. Instead, they treat people as less-than-humans and act sanctimoniously.

If you like the doctors there, find another way to see the Doctor instead of going through this facility. The nurses and receptionists just aren't worth the hassles! Trust me, you'd thank me if you knew me.

I've actually never seen a psychiatrist before I came here, but my experience has been pretty awful. Its almost impossible to get anyone on the phone ever. They don't do courtesy reminder calls, and then they'll randomly charge $75 to my credit card with no warning due to a missed appointment. I would unserstand that if I was wasting their time, but literally every time I've gone I've waited 45-90 minutes, so I'm not sure how they can justify charging me for their time when they have absolutely no respect for mine. Hell, my missed appointment probably gave them a chance to get back on schedule. When I FINALLY met with Dr B instead,of a,nurse, he,told me that my meds had been wrong the entire tkme andhe changed them. That completely destroyed my Faith in the nursing staff. So now I'm about to be off of my meds completely because this ridiculous place is so inefficient and I will never go back. Thanks for the help Dr B! Not really though--your office staff and policies really suck.

Office staff are rude and inattentive. Wait times are insane. The office has misleading policies. Cancellation fees are steep. Not worth the wait and rude treatment.

Attended here as a minor and everything went smoothly (except for the smell of cigarettes that hit the nose upon my entrance). Once I became legal, I spent wait times varying from 1 hour to an hour and 45 minutes to me showing up and discovering my doctor called out without any notification of his absence. When I was finally able to get into an appointment (I walked out of one, tired of the wait with rude staff not giving me answers/ doc not showing up), I explained to my new doc my symptoms and she hardly listened and just prescribed me a higher dose of the medication I had explained was making everything worse. She never asked if I was on any other medicine (to make sure nothing combined in an odd way), and she never really made eye contact with me the 5 minutes I was in her office. Bottom line is-- the wait times are practically unbearable for the amount of appointment time you actually get, if you find a doctor you really like-- you may not get them every time because the docs are constantly switching patients depending on how behind they are, and as an adult, they don't really value you enough to give you quality time to explain detailed information regarding medication. Save yourself some money, and a drive, just go somewhere else.

I'd give Dr. Birkmire 5 stars, but some of his office staff is disorganized. Dr. Birkmire is an excellent psychiatrist and is well versed in psychotropic medications. Surprisingly, not all psychiatrists are expert on how various meds work, interact, etc. Ashlawn Consulting also provides counseling services. Marlene and John are both excellent.

I have never known a better health care provider. He actually listens. I look forward to every appointment the wait has been long in some cases but usually due to overbooking and that is usually the fault of state guidelines. Not based on patient need. If there were more hours in the day dr. B would spend them with patients. I will never be this comfortable with another dr

Absolutely horrible. I've been going here for about 2 years now and it's become progressively worse. Their service or horrible. Every time I've gone it's been at least a 2 hour wait. Dr. Birkmire is rarely on topic and is always talking about other things. I do not plan on going back. We will be finding somewhere else to go. If I could give no stars, I would.

Excessive waiting, met Dr. Birkmire and he seemed alright, but his ARNP's leave a lot to be desired. If you need help with presciptions forget about it, you get an automated message telling you not to call back.Go somewhere else, a waste of time, money and gas.

First appointment ever made went quick and smooth. The next couple of appointments caused me including other patients to wait in the waiting room for approximately 3 hours (not nearly exaggerating). If you schedule an appt with them expect to do nothing else for the day including going back to work or meeting a different appointment. Their appointment schedule is always backed up and you probably won't ever meet Dr. Birkmire, like in my case. There are different practitioners there that you will be rotated between every visit (isn't it ideal to consistently meet with one practitioner that knows you and your concerns already?). Their FAMOUS EXCUSE when you wait long and finally decide to complain, is that they had a "patient emergency" I heard this every appt along with others. I also don't feel they really evaluate your concerns and symptoms they try to find a quick solution, whip out their prescription pad, write up something and have you leave (probably to get to the next patient considering how backed up they always are). Today I made them give me a refund of my $20 copay after driving an hour on time to my appointment at 11:45am I had enough of sitting down so long so I left their waiting room at 2:20pm since I had to be somewhere at 2:30pm. I will never walk into this inexcusable place again. Good luck if this is the place you choose.
