Fruit Valley is a full 45 minute drive from my home. But my pets are family and they deserve the very best. The staff is warm, knowledgeable and has the best interests of my animals at heart. When have you ever called for an update on the condition of your pet and had the veterinarian return your call and spoken to your for 30 minutes without additional charge? Vet care can be expensive....but Fruit Valley works to ensure your pet's health is the first priority at a fraction of the costs charged by my old vet. The additional drive time is a small price to pay for quality service.

Overall

We've had three official visits thus far for ongoing end-of-life care, and go there frequently for prescriptions.

PROS:

- Dr. Danielle M. is knowledgeable, compassionate, and takes the time to go over what they're doing, what the options are and why.

- Clean, quiet facilities.

- Very little wait time, if any.

- On-call doctors who get back to you quickly in my experience.

- Not forcing you to make an appointment for medicine pick-ups once you're established.

- I can't emphasize how important it is that these guys will teach you LIFE SAVING TREATMENTS you can do affordably at home.

NEUTRAL:

- They mark up some equipment substantially. Don't particularly resent it because they do try to keep your visits affordable, and other supplies are actually under-marked.

CONS:

- If your pet has not been a client in their care, it doesn't seem like they honor other vets' prescriptions.

- Some clinicians are less understanding than others, which is especially important in sensitive situations.

- If they mess up your prescription order, you get a credit and stuck with the mess-up instead of a cash refund and exchange.

All in all, with respect to the grief of a horrific situation that no family should have to face, Fruit Valley Vet has given us a lot to work with. They're a small clinic, and do remarkably well for it.

These vets are fantastic. First and foremost they are Cornell schooled. Cornell university is the best veterinary school in the U.S. I have moved around a lot and have used many different vets, however Fruit Valley, unlike many of them, are not out to get your last dollar. They won't over-vaccinate just to make more money. They are very well priced, they come from the best institution, and they kept my dog alive and well with a serious condition far better than I have heard of others in similar predicaments.

Love them

I have been taking my do to Fruit Valley Vet Clinic for 9 years, the staff have always been very helpful and concerned. They even met me there on Sunday during a holiday weekend to check my dog. Dr Susan (as well as the rest of the staff) are very good with the animals and all very compassionate. I don't blame them for not giving meds to animals they do not regularly treat or people who have in the past been unable to pay. Giving meds to animals they do not know the medical history of opens the door to all kinds of problems including legal and they need to make money doing what they do, and in my opinion do well.

They are the only ones who will ever treat my animals!

Horrible Place to Bring Your Pet

Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic has a policy that in order to get any form of medication for your pet you must first be a previous customer, they will only treat an animal up to how much the owner can afford to pay, and only in that price range. So if you have a cat or a dog that is seriously ill they won't even attempt to go all out to the best of their ablitlites to save an animal. And forget any type of service if you should have a outstanding balance, they'll try to make you pay the remaining balance on the spot before even considering looking at you let alone your beloved pet. So, avoid the runaround and the headache.

Other Hospitals in the area are: VCA animal Hospitals, Heacock Noel A DVM- Fulton, North Country Animal Health Center- Watertown NY, North Country Veterinary Services PC- Oswego & Pulaski,Tara Animal Hospital- Oswego, Fulton Animal Hospital, Highland Animal Hospital - Central Square, and Mexico Veterinary Hospital. As you can see there are a lot of choices to choose from other than Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic.
