Sleep Disorders
Sleep is vital part of a healthy lifestyle, the CDC identifies daily sufficient sleep as one of the five key health behaviors for preventing chronic disease. An estimated 70 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep disorder. Insomnia and other sleep disorders can have a major impact on health, productivity and interpersonal relationships.
Emergency Care
Dizziness, vertigo and balance problems are very common complaints in clinical practice. These symptoms can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life and overall safety. Over 90 million Americans, age 17 years and older, have experienced a dizziness or balance problem. Twenty million Americans visit the emergency room each year for fall related injuries, with balance-related falls accounting for more than half of the accidental deaths in the elderly. According to the National Institute of Health, 90% of all causes of dizziness can be identified by a thorough evaluation.

Polysomnography normally requires an overnight stay in one of our private suites. During this stay, while you sleep, you will be monitored for Sleep Staging, Eye Movement, Nasal/Oral Airflow, Chest and Abdominal Respiratory Movement, Chin and Limb EMG, EKG and Pulse Oxymetry

Seizures, which can last from a few seconds to several minutes, may include convulsions or loss of consciousness. Ultrasound
Carotid Ultrasound testing is used to detect narrowing or obstructions in the carotid arteries, a common precursor to stroke. Carotid Ultrasound with TransCranial Doppler is a non-invasive exam of the carotid and vertebral arteries of the neck used to detect narrowing or obstructions, providing crucial information about blood flow to the brain.
MRI
Several diagnostic tools are used to determine the cause of the patient’s TIA. These include MRI to identify the extent of any brain damage; MR and CT angiography and perfusion scans to assess blood flow to the brain and identify plaque in blood vessels that feed the brain; platelet function testing to understand the clotting characteristics of blood and to determine the most effective medication; neuropharmacologic assessments to avoid drug interactions that may counteract treatment efficacy; and cardiac monitoring to evaluate heart function.

Computerized Tomography (CT) Angiography can detect malformed blood vessels, narrowing of the blood vessels and aneurysms. Regular CT scans can detect a hemorrhagic stroke.

Lesions
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive illness of the central nervous system. More than 400,000 people in the U.S. are affected by MS, with 2-3 times as many women as men affected by the disease. In MS, the coating that protects nerves, called myelin, is destroyed or damaged, leaving scar tissue called sclerosis, plaques or lesions. The nerve fiber may also be damaged as the disease progresses.
